I have played three separate captains now, and I have installed flee-capable engines on a Stargun, Shadowcat and Thug. Still, I have never seen a "Flee"-button in combat. Does it only activate under some conditions? Or is it just broken?

Hi,

no, the flee ability works. There was a problem with a ship engine that gives you the flee ability seperately from your skill tree, but the general skill should work. What profession do you have? Do you have the flee ability in the skill tree or do you use the ship engine that has flee as a special ability? In any case try out the patch coming out on GOG.com today.

Thank you for your reply!
Sorry, that is what I meant. I've played fleet officer and bounty hunter, in various ships, on Mac and Windows, and the Traveller Escape engine never adds a flee option in combat.
I just redownloaded the Mac version (Release 1.1 according to the credits), started a Bounty Hunter, bought a Traveller Escape engine for the Stargun - still no flee option. I will test the Windows version before the weekend is over.

Side note, just realized I have only ever played Outer Rim, in case that has any effect on things.

And by the way, thanks for making the turn-based spacer RPG I never knew I needed! It's already great, but it would be greater if my Fighter Captains had a chance to escape all these Pirate Pattons ...

We'll be updating the Mac version of Smugglers V very soon. We hope to have the Mac version updated by either Monday or Tuesday. Sorry for the delay :(

Yes, this is a bug of the 1.1. version. It´s fixed in 1.2.

As a fleet officer and bounty hunter you can upgrade your ship with the engine that has the flee ability too. However as a fighter you are supposed to keep the galaxy safe and not escape! :)

Hi, thanks for making such a fun game:) I also recently ran into this issue:In a Thug-class corvette I had installed the engine with "flee" and according to gog I have version setup_smugglers5_2.13.0.18 downloaded.

Any help would be appreciated:)
I played this game 3 years late. But ya I'm using the "Basic Escape" engine as a Bounty Hunter and flee never comes up in fights.

I'm playing the Invasion expansion for Smugglers 5.

I put this here so anybody else experiencing the problem doesn't feel alone.

Will there be a smugglers 6?
