I bought sin gold becaus i never played the expansion. I do have some issues with it. There are some really dark parts in the first few levels and changing the brightness does nothing. I literrally can't see anything in these parts and have to blindly hope to find the way. The flashlight doesn't even work. It projects a beam but doesn't illuminate anyting so it's still pitch black.

As i remember from my Retail copy of the base game (but i could remember incorrectly) areas would also lit up while shooting your gun. This doesn't work either.

Anybody has any insight in this?

Have you tried using the gamma setting via the nglide configurator before starting the game? Only the default setup is to use 3DFX via nglide.

If that still doesn't work, try using a different renderer, such as OpenGL. If you are on an nvidia card, though, be sure to check other threads here as to prevent crashing you'll need to either rename sin.exe to quake.exe or add a custom profile to your drivers that turns on the extension limit option.
weirdly enough it seems to have fixed itself....maybe some changes needed a restart or something but as far as i remember I didn't change anything without checking or without restarting so I dunno. Maybe it's just a bug in the sewer levels. Level 3 also had a dark part and the flashlight lighted it up just fine....
