CYRU5: Got it, but if I'm not replying/quoting any of you it means I'm referring to the topic theme which is SH 2 & 3 on GOG.
avatar
Dancsi38: ok and what SoD has to do with this topic and sub-forum ? This is a Silent Hill 4 sub-forum, if you want to request a different game on GOG, ask it in the general/request forum.
SoD is a Konami game from the same era ... get a cold drink and chill bud, don't get nervous

Topic - requesting Konami to release another 2 PC games
My message - requesting a 3rd PC game (from the same year as SH2)
Your message - emulation based requests (less likely to happen)

My previous messages (or I would say answers and not requests) in this topic was to the other users who request Silent Hill 1 (PS1 game) to be available on GOG, I didn't requested any games here, read the previous answers before saying that I request an emulation based game.

Also, SH2 and 3 are already released by Konami on PC, they want GOG to re-release them in digital format. They can request Konami as long as they want, it's GOG who is gonna make a digital version of SH2 and 3
I wanna play SH2 with that pimpin' HD mod. I happily await the day of it's release here.

Fingers crossed for Silent Hill 2, 3 and Homecoming this Friday.

Why? What's so special about this Friday?

SH4 was added on Friday and this time it's before Halloween.

Dancsi38: I doubt that GOG will release SH1, it's a PS1 exclusive game, it was only available on psp/ps3/ps vita in digital format.

Why it would be released on PC, it was not even released on other platform before.

Silent Hill 2 is already on PC and you can add the enhanced edition pack to make it better for the videos, sound and music

Same goes for SH3, it's already on pc and you can get it for cheap (I paid 10$ for SH3 retail DVD)
Silent Hill 4 was already on pc too and has fan fixes, so the fact the game is on pc is irrelevant.

Silent Hill 2 goes for 500 on ebay currently and Silent Hill 3 goes for 150. None of this money gets to the original developer. Silent Hill 4 is the only game of the original 4 where you can buy it digitally and only for 10 bucks. So yes, Silent Hill 2 and 3 should be released on gog. For the fact alone that they can put little effort in these ports (just controller support and widescreen fixes) and rake in cash from fans foaming at the mouth for them to do that.
I will buy Silent Hill 4 if they release the other games. I'm not falling for it. Release Silent Hill 2 and 3 and you will gladly have my money.

2 was cross platform when it came out
3 however has only seen a ps2 release and is still around the $140 ish price tag. Really want 3 to hit gog. I want to go back and play it again.

Silent Hill 3 did actually have a PC port, it was super buggy apparently though.

PC port of Silent Hill 2 was buggy. Fans already fixed pretty much everything and add some new stuff as well.

Silent Hill 3 on PC still works excellent, but there's some not so much important stuff missing like costumes and some voices in cut-scenes.

If you wait 15-20+ years to buy an old PC game that you really want and now the price rocketed up, that's not my problem. SH2/SH3 for PC when it came out had a retail price too (under 100$ for sure). I have the big boxed version with 3 CDs. I grabbed the other two games for cheap before it reached the $200+ price tag. If you want a game badly, get it before the price increases, that's the only advice i can give.

Same goes with some rare and unique PS2 games (Haunting Ground), that game sells used for $400+

Dancsi38: It's about Sony and Konami rights to give the SH1 game disc image to GOG so they can release it on their digital platform.
avatar
teceem: Why do you think that Sony's blessing is needed?

Coming back to the Castlevania/Contra thing... I'm pretty sure that there was no Nintendo involvement (in 2002).

Emulation is legal, when no original 3rd party assets are used [without permission] (like the original device's OS/firmware).
Emulation is legal if you own the game, if you download it from the net, it's illegal. Also, for ps1 emulation, you need a ps1 bios and it is also owned by Sony. I doubt that Sony is gonna give out the bios to GOG (and the SH1 disc image (iso) in order to release an emulated PS1 game here.

And what about other ps1/ps2 exclusive games then, if you want SH1 that badly, because you think, it is easy to "port" and sell console games here.

People don't ask about Gran Turismo, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, The Getaway, God Hand,, Def Jam, etc. because they know it's not gonna happen (and yes, you have a ps2 emulators since years)

Back again to vent. Konami can kiss my rear. They treat their game division and their work of art games like the Silent Hill 1-4 like dog sh*t. Konami still won't see a cent of my money till both 2 and 3 are on GOG. I have seen working ports of the game online, so it can be done.
