Title.
Any of the wonder videos stutter to the point of locking up entirely in some cases, any patch or mod that alleivates this?
Anyone have any info on this? I am seeing same as OP, but program never locks up on me:

1. At startup, the first logo scene will sometimes play perfectly, sometimes "stutters" (seems like a 50% chance)

2. At startup, the second cutscene will always play perfectly - um, why is this one different than the others? [don't have to answer, as it is unimportant]. [EDIT]: Figured this one out! What I thought were two videos one after the other, is in fact a single video.

3. From there on, the "project" videos will play okay for a few seconds, then begin stuttering. I have to "space bar" to get past it.

I have looked in the tech suggestions, and none work. The compatibility modes just don't do anything at all. Going into my NVIDIA Control Panel does not help, as it does not recognize Alpha Centauri (terrain.exe) as a program - no way to select it for graphics modifications.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! I would LOVE to see the cutscenes as I'm playing :-)

UPDATE on the stuttering Windows problem:

I updated my NVIDIA graphics card drivers. The videos now play properly.

Maybe it's as simple as that. Keep your OS and Graphics Card drivers up-to-date.

I actually hopped to Linux and out of all fixes (even updating the drivers) THAT fixed it. Weird, but it's no longer stuttering.
I'm seeing the same thing. I have a CD version of the game that works fine on WinXP; but all cut scenes (game start and secret projects) are jerky messes using the GOG version on Win10 with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660ti graphics card. I buy the GOG versions of old games because Win10 is not old game friendly, but some of the GOG games on Win10 play much differently than on XP; the usual problem is that the mouse control feels 'floaty', where the screen movement lags behind mouse movements when I am looking around.
