So what's the deal with all those names? Does the "Classic" mean that there is or will be some reboot just called Rune?

But more importantly: When I saw "Classic" I thought this was gonna be the original version, now I noticed that there's "Gold" in the extras which seems to be some sort of "Classic Classic". So what's the deal exactly? I presume that "Gold" is the original version as it was sold in retail bundled with the addon but what is "Classic" exactly? Does it have some visual or gameplay improvements? Does it have resurrected multiplayer servers and/or server features? Seriously, WHAT'S GOING OOON???!!!

I was curious about this too, thanks for asking. Let's hope someone in the community know what's going on here. Rune gold was with the expansion in Retail, I don't know when where or why this Classic suffix got added.

All I know is that the gamecard says something about new enemies but that can't possibly be the only thing that was done to the game.

Rune Gold is the original Rune with the expansion pack. That game has all of the original levels. Rune Classic is basically a remake of Rune, but they took out some levels and changed the music. Here is some information about Rune Classic:

Thanks. Well, to me that sounds like I should rather play Rune Gold. ^^

No shit! XD
"When you buy this Pinto as a bonus we throw in this Ferrari."
FYI You can actually hear the NPCs in Gold.

Drawing a blank right now, but something to do with the sound system/drivers was changed for Rune Classic which can cause this and some directional sound issues.

Rune Classic is an updated version of Rune which apart from the above change, most notably has the new enemies included from the PS2 version, and a number cut or rebalanced levels.

Thanks, great info. After reading the list of changes at that link, it's clear Rune Classic is woefully misnamed. Rune Goulash, perhaps. Will go with Rune Gold as well.

I agree. I was completely confused when I first saw this game listed and it said "Rune Classic" instead of just plain Rune! I'm glad they included Rune Gold too.
With this mod....

https://secure.gog.com/forum/rune_classic/rune_extended_mod_for_missing_levels

it adds back the missing levels
So this "Halls of Valhalla" expansion adds multiplayer-only content?

Basically yes :)
Wow, what a monumentally stupid update (more like downgrade) "Rune Classic" is. Thanks for the heads up everyone, and a big thank you GOG for giving us the original version! That's what I love about you guys!
