I've read in other sites that this game was great but I'm having a hard time enjoying it.

First of all I seem to lose HP to air. Sometimes when I enter a room I lose half a point without enemies spawning yet. Maybe there are projectiles I don't see? The screen flashes a lot with "Kill the boss" messages and red lights too.

My first spell, the shield, only works out of combat. Whenever I try to pop it while fighting it just blinks. Out of combat it remains draining energy until I tap again. The only time it worked properly was during the tutorial part of it where you use it to stop the turret fire.

Fighting with the gamepad is really orthopedic. Melee is very short, guns are not accurate and the character's mobility seems like it's not very fluid.

The narration is non-existent. I start the game without knowing who am I or what am I doing there. It took me 3 or 4 loading screens to read a tip that said "you've been hacked and you have to rescue your brother" but still don't know what's going on very well. Reading some of the "lore" in the menu helps but it's a lame way to narrate things in my opinion, even for an action game.

Is this it? Is this what the game is?

There are weapons that inflict bleed damage and some red-dotted walls that may harm you, but losing HP just like that is highly impossible. Did it happen more than once, is it reproducible? If so, could you provide me with some more info?

The only reason I can think of is that you don't have a sufficient amount of energy, this is why the shield won't appear. Like most of the skills, the shield takes some energy on deployment and will continue to drain it whether you're in combat or not. Was that not the case? If not, could you give me some more details?

What do you mean by "short" melee? When it comes to aiming, there is no autoaim in this game, only a small degree of aim assist.
Hello and thanks for your answer.

Regarding the first point I'm not sure if I can reproduce it. I stood over one of the healing spots and healed to full. Then I entered a room and suddenly half point dropped. Maybe something happened in the middle and I didn't notice but I'm 100% sure I was full when I left the healing spot.

The second point happened to me every single time.
I was unsure about the skill mechanics so I tried several things:
- Hold the skill button, which seems to be irrelevant, one tap does the same.
- Make sure I don't doble tap it turning it on and off too quickly.
- Make sure I have full energy
So basically I stayed around an energy regen spot. I used the skill, I understood how it works and I recharged the energy several times to full. No problem here, working as I understood it should in the tutorial. Then I keep advancing and look carefully at the screen, not caring about dying, and all I focus on is looking at the barrier. I tap the button and the shield blinks and dissapears. It doesn't really block anything not in the front nor from the back of my character. Just blinks, consumes a small chunk of energy and doesn't do anything. I assumed for a moment that maybe it was just a level 1 skill and it was weak early but then I remembered that I blocked a whole barrage of turret fire with it and it didn't even deplete my energy.

The third point is just clunkyness in combat. The character moves are not fluid, at least with the gamepad. It's like the character has different stances (north, north-west, west, etc) rather than moving 360º. So if you don't point towards the right direction is really easy to miss since you move fast and the enemies do as well. Shooting guns because of this has the same effect, aiming is somewhat hard with the gamepad (will try with the mouse but kills the point of playing an isometric shooting game like this imho).
In other isometric games you can move the stick around and it's smoother because the character spins with it. In this game, the feeling that I have, is that you have to point in a direction with the stick.

Sorry if my explanation is a little bit vague, the aesthetics of the game are really impressive but I don't know if I have the wrong mindset for the game but it's hard to enjoy the gameplay.

Thanks again for your time.

We'll have this in mind wile testing and see if the issue occurs.

Come to think of it, the shield is cancelled every time you attack, this is how the skill works. It "works" out of combat, because you don't use melee/guns, but you do when fighting enemies, right?
Unless the shield disappears the second you deploy it, without any other input besides dash. Then we may have a problem.

We're currently implementing controller sensitivity settings. Some players, you included, have expressed their dislike of the current movement handling when playing with the controller. I guess this should help.

Thank you for your feedback, it's really important for us :)
Regarding controller it would be a HUGE quality of life improvement if we could aim melee with the left stick i mean. Using melee as default should use movement direction UNLESS off course there is input from the right stick which would override left stick input. Currently it's kinda awkward to use a combination of three inputs to hit with melee weapons. (4 if you are dashing and fighting) Because it's kinda rare to use melee while moving in a diferent direction anyway.

PS: the game is awesome. You have my complete respect and gratitude.
After playing a little bit longer I can say that I haven't been able to reproduce the ghost damage again so I guess it was something I didn't notice.
The shield cancel stuff seems to be exactly what you say, it cancels on every combat action. If you're shooting and try to activate it it blinks and that's the effect I was suffering. So it works as intended.
Controls feel really bad for controller, specially because for some reason the movement switched from the left stick to the analog pad and it cannot be changed in the options menu.

I gotta say I'm not enjoying the game, personally, but I appreciate the attitude towards criticism even when it's the customer not understanding the game itself.

My best wishes and regards.

During development, we tried different variations of controlls and such were deemed to be the most optimal for the game. At the same time, I understand your dislike of those. Some players wish the controls were more like those of Diablo. Right now we're working on controller sensitivity settings, so maybe this will aleviate your problems, at least a bit, but controller rebinding is not on our list at the moment. We'll see about that in the future, but can't promise you anything.

Yes, actions negate the shield, otherwise it'd be too OP. uf, I was worried for a moment we have a serious bug here that we missed!

Thanks and thanks :) We've been reading gog/steam forums + reviews for the past few days and are trying to address critical issues, so all your feedback is appreciated.
