Hello everybody,

I bought Risen 2 right away, but I remembered the really ugly treemorphing-issue (or feature?) of the game. So I tried to install the famous AntiWarp-mod. When I try to install it, the game asks me for the game directory - I choose the correct path, but the "next>"-button (the one to launch the installation) stays greyed out. If I enter the path manually instead of choosing "browse", the same thing happens. It seems as if the installer doesn't recognize the game at all. It could be an issue related to the fact that the mod was made for the Steam-version of Risen 2. Does anybody know a way to install the mod - manually, if necessary? The absurd moving and changing trees and bushes are a real pain and a killer of immersion for me...

Thanks,
Wolf
Have you tried installing it with the Mod Starter? Maybe it works this way?
I tried putting the game folder in the installation path where Steam installs it's games and altered the name of the game folder in "rinsen 2" (the name Steam uses). The Mod installer recognized the installation path immediately but the "next>"-button still stays greyed out. No luck.

Hi, thank you! With the Mod Starter, the installation works.
The issue has been posted in the AntiWarp release thread at WoR.
Even if Baltram read it, he would need some time for download/research/changes/testing/release...

Great to know I could help. And I'm glad this works, otherwise we would have to wait until the author of the mod fixed it.

Sadly, it seems not all the mods work, even with the Mod Starter. But AntiWarp is definitely the most important.

Seems to be a problem with the modifications that change localized strings.
Looks like I have to look for my old Windows VM and update the TAB decoder/encoder...

While I naturally have no idea what you are saying, it's good to see you're working on it. You never let us down. :D
Topic: in [risen2]/system make a copy of the Risen.exe as Risen2.exe

OT: Should have thought about it, since G2 had a similar problem.

Thanks. It worked so far as recognizing the game and starting the installation but the installer gives me a message that sais:

Could not open and modify ConfigDefault.xml (you can still do this manually).

What does that mean?
What should be modified?

The installer works with the change of "Risen" to "Risen2". However, I encounter the same problem.

Apart from "fixing" the morphing issues, AntiWarp also includes some changs to ConfigDefault.xml in order to increase the view ranges for trees/bushes. The installer is from 2012 so it expects Risen 2 to be installed on Steam and fails to locate ConfigDefault.xml if installed elsewhere.

You can easily do the changes manually:

1. Locate ConfigDefault.xml in risen 2\data\ini and open it in a text editor
2. Search for lines that contain the string SpeedTree_ (there are 9 such lines)
3. Each of these lines end with a decimal numer. Multiplay all of these with the following value:

1.0 for AntiWarp Low (no changes)
1.5 for AntiWarp Medium (3000.0 --> 4500.0, 7000.0 --> 10500.0, 12500.0 --> 18750.0)
2.5 for AntiWarp High (3000.0 --> 7500.0, 7000.0 --> 17500.0, 12500.0 --> 31250.0)
4.0 for AntiWarp Ultra (3000.0 --> 12000.0, 7000.0 --> 28000.0, 12500.0 --> 50000.0)

I will update the installer as soon as I can (I am on vacation right now and have no access to the installer data).
I updated the AntiWarp installer, the Risen 2 GOG version is now supported.

Do I install the unofficial patch first?

It makes no difference.

(Btw. I just updated the unofficial patch installer - it is compatible with the GOG version of Risen 2 now.)
