Has anybody been able to get this to work on Windows 10? I launch the game and nothing loads and I have to use the task manager to kill the process. No compatibility, CCC, or affinity settings I've used have had any effect. The latest community patch doesn't solve the issue either.

How long did you wait until you killed the process? From time to time it takes a relatively long time for me to load as well on Windows 7 (seems to be caused by the OS), maybe try waiting a few minutes next time for something to happen before killing it.
You could also try to run it as an Admin, I'm not really involved with Windows 10 yet but I believe that it should prompt you for executing it once the OS wants to run it like it does in Windows Vista+, that should give you at least an indication that the game is loaded in the OS and also solve any possible access permissions (it should only write to files in the game directory anyway).

Other than that, are you referring to the latest 1.2 patch of the community patches, or the recent OpenGL port?
If its the former you might want to try the OpenGL port (link), its still in its early stages (no options menu or multiplayer) but definitely worth a shot for the time being, especially if you just want to play the base game.

A number of minutes. I was referring to the 1.2 patch but I tried the OpenGL port and that has the same issue. I've been running it as an Admin as well but that doesn't work either.

The executable is loaded and the process is using 25%~ of the CPU fairly consistently; it just never launches a window.
Interesting, does it help anything if you launch the game with the "-window" parameter?

Another thing that could be worth trying is to change your graphics driver to the integrated Intel HD graphics one (if there is such an option in your ATI control panel or something like that, I never had to do that myself so I don't know the exact process) and see if it brings any different results.

Thats all I can think of right now, I'll try to set up a Windows 10 system in the next few days so I can try for myself (I'm curious either way), until then I'm out of ideas :P

That´s more one of the Minor Problems due to a Brand new Operating System.
Win 10 doesn´t haver properly good drivers yet, nor do they have good support for all kind of Media yet.
Maybe GOG.com shouldn´t do "Win 10 Compatible stickers an every Game" if they didn´t test it yet.

I was wondering that after the release, they immediately have tagged all windows games as "Win 10" compatible.
Nope, Win 10 is still a puppy to grown.

You have the Unofficial Patch 1.2 , try to use the Debug Mode or different Commandline Options.
If its doesn´t help, look for new driver , try Compatibility Mode.

Look into the 1.2 Doc´s for Specific Parameters.
(emulatefullscreen) should be good, if its only working in window mode, but you didn´t want start menu :)

Maybe my post isn´t helpful, im sorry, but maybe you can test around a bit, pls leave a comment how you done it to get it back to work :)
Best regards.

I just tried to run the game in a virtual machine (64bit, RTM release) and it loaded up with the OpenGL version (with graphical glitches), 1.2 would just quit with the "No Z-buffer available" message but thats all expected when you run it from a virtual machine.

So to me it appears as if the OS should be able to load the game, perhaps try to install the latest Windows updates (assuming you're still operating with the release candidate version) and/or check if newer drivers are available for your hardware.

As Chaosdrache said, Windows 10 is still brand new and early hick ups can be expected so perhaps its just a temporary issue until it gets resolved for you with an update.
Hi everybody.
I got this game to work with Windows 10 by deleting the winmm.dll file in the Re-volt game folder. Try it, it works for me.
Good job! It works for me as well.
Good find there, I renamed winmm.dll, no sound but the game runs well now.

Nevermind that, last I'd played it on Win 8 I'd used the mixer to mute the game as I were listening to a podcast at the same time, the upgrade to win 10 didn't reset the volume settings it seem.

I'm guessing you are all using the GOG version? Because the original installer never included a winmm.dll and neither did the last official game patch or any of the community patches.

If thats the case then I wonder why they included it, especially since its normally a system dll supplied by the OS.

Either way, good to know that its an easy to fix problem, I guess I'll keep that in mind for other games.
(since it seems there are other games with the same problem)

Yes, it's the GOG version.
Using the winmm.dll fix works for me but after a minute or two the game freezes. Any fix for this?

Regards Johnny.

Yeah, removing winmm.dll makes the game randomly freeze.
But replacing it with a different version keeps it stable, download a different version of winmm from dll-files com and paste it into your revolt folder. I found that version 5.1.2600.2180 works well.

Hope it helps.
Description lists it as a WAV / CD wrapper

Sent in this fix as there seem to be no support articles listed for Re-Volt anymore
