Whenever I try to start Re_Volt, this error box pops up, shortly before crashing (error report attached).

Hello,

It seems like your screen doesn't support the default reoslution of 640x480x16 which would make sense I suppose. The way you can solve this is by:
- opening 'regedit'
- go to H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Acclaim Entertainment -> Re-Volt -> 1.0
- Change the value "ScreenWidth" to something your screen resolution width. (fx. 1024)
- Change value "ScreenHeight" to something your screen resolution height. (fx. 768)
- Change value "ScreenBpp" to "32" (for the sake of your eyes).

Then try open Re-Volt again. Are you on a 32-bit or a 64-bit system? If you are on a 64-bit you can locate the keys at
H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Wow6432Node -> Software -> Acclaim Entertainment -> Re-Volt -> 1.0
at least as far as I recall.

I found the folder, but the only files I could find in there were (default) and Version. No ScreenWidth or ScreenHeight, unless I'm missing some function in regedit (first time running it).

Go to the shortcut properties and add -window to the end of the Target box. You should then be able to set your resolution, after which you can remove that again for fullscreen mode.
I believe you can use a commandline to start Re-Volt with a specific resolution.

In the Re-Volt shortcut, right click the icon and go to Properties.
In the Target line, you will see the revolt path written. Add this text at the end:
-res 1024 768 32

Note that you need to leave a space between the revolt path and the commandline.
Example :
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Acclaim Entertainment\Re-Volt\revolt.exe" -res 1024 768 32

If that doesn't work you can try other resolutions like 800 600 16, or 1280 720 32.
This will force Re-Volt to be launched with the selected resolution by default.
