For those interested, the developer has been very responsive on the steam forum of this game, and has released a beta of an upcoming patch adressing some gameplay issues people have been giving feedback on. GOG doesn't have the opt-in beta functionality, so we'll have to wait a bit longer to see these improvements, but if you had issues with aspects of the game, it might be worth it to wait for this to drop here. Copied from the steam post:
So after reading all the feedback about stuff but mainly the 'Kindle' tool, I've added options (so not removed it, but you can turn it off) I must say that with the kindle off, Speed high it's quite fun!

Here's a list of updates:

- Kindle AI, this has been balanced so the CPUs are not so crazy when it comes to kindling
- Island 2 has had it's tribe replaced for a dumber AI :D
- Player names allowed shorter than 4 characters.

Big bit
- In 'island overview' you can now change some options, click the [?] icon bottom left of the screen and you can now set to DISABLE the kindle option. This will not let you or the CPU players use it. You can also set the 'Flag speed'. 5 levels, Hetic makes populants faster, slow is ... well slower :D

Misc
- ESC key now windows the game, press it again and it returns to full screen.
- In Full screen there is now mouse edge scrolling (NOTE: Only in full screen, not 'windowed maximized) Feels nice when your in full screen and the game is also set to fill.
- Some other bug fixes

I never suggested otherwise. Just thought people who, for example, were annoyed by kindling as it works now, would like to know change is coming and that the developer is listening to feedback.

I never said you suggested otherwise, I was just pointing it out so the "OMG STEAM BIAS OMG WHY DONT WE HAVE PATCH" people would be calmed

ah, I see!
Though to be honest I don't think there are many of those people around here :) I think most people understand patches will land at every distributor when they're done.

And who knows, maybe in the future, GOG might offer the beta functionality as well, when GOG Galaxy hits.

I have seen it in forums with other games that have steam releases as well, so it can happen, and I find them annoying, because they usually complain and then that monday BAM, patch.
I’m hoping for a game speed option geared toward older crusts like myself. Glad to see my wish made it onto the dev’s list over on Steam’s forums although, as near as I can tell, it wasn’t implemented into Steam’s test beta. Must wait and see. . .

Either way, it’s mighty encouraging to see electrolyte making significant post-release refinements to Reprisal Universe.

I expect disabling kindling and setting the flag speed to slow, while not changing the actual game speed, would result in a more relaxed game pace. Have to say that sounds pretty nice, because while so far I have managed to keep up, with all the kindling and scrolling back and forth there wasn't much time to enjoy the scenery and the marvelous destruction :D

So I’m actually asking for the same thing as some others? I see. Thanks for the renewed perspective, LordCinnamon.
