Wailwulf: As to the graphics problem (the link 404s for me) are you talking about in the menu screens for RB3D? There are two fixes I have learned.

crazy_dave: I think in this instance he was referring to the original RB1 (DOSBox) game not coming out right, rather than RB3D.
I wasn't alone! Read back; indeed appears to be referring to RB1 which I never did try.

It's old, but I still did a couple play throughs of it when I got the GOG version - one German, one British and the campaigns were still as much fun as I remember from when I was a kid. :)

That's right. First I couldn't play both, then I could play RDB3D, and now I can play RB1 and RB3D.

My joystick got here today so I've tried it out with the games. It works fine, except sometimes the joystick is going crazy with RB1, my plane keeps going up and left and right.... I've already calibrated it in the Control Panel of Windows.

I still have a hard time to control the planes. Its my first time to use a joystick in a game, so I guess I've got a lot learning to do.

I was in the Airscouts when I was a kid, and sometimes I've played RB1 there. It's still a fun game now. Currently I'm with the German. It's 1918 and I've flew with Boelcke, Udet and the brothers Von Richthofen. I already got the Order le Pour Merit, but I'm still Rittmeister. And I fly the Fokker Dr. 1.

Hmmm ... I'm not sure what the joystick issues is - if you hadn't said you calibrated it, I would've gone with that. Also DOSBox is pretty good with joysticks usually. Do you have any other game controllers connected? When you open the config file for joysticks what does it say for joystick type? Auto? Since you have a thrustmaster anyway (even if a much, much newer one!), try changing it to fcs.

Congrats on the Order le Pour Merit. It's also fun when you get it with Oakleaf clusters - a honor even Richthofen never got. :)

My Logitech has an option in the control panel to always have it set as ID1, over riding all other controllers. Maybe his JS is not listed as ID 1 and therefore DOS Box is not seeing it?

Just an idea.

Thanks.

How do I get to the config files? And this is my only joystick.

The config files should be in the Red Baron 1 folder called dosboxred1.conf and dosboxred1_mb.conf.
