So I was playing ROTH again after a long time and I resumed from an old save game I didn't even remember. And there I was in the vicarage (the house besides the church). In the entertainment room, the one with the TV and the music system, there's this:

http://i.imgbox.com/LFKb7BAF.png

A black and white painting of a music band that says "CURD" below in red. When examining it Adam says "What the hell?" and Rebecca replies "Future sight. It's the only possible answer."

So... WTF is this? Does the painting mean something? What does it have to do with future sight? Why is it the only possible answer? What kind of macabre music band is that? Any ideas?

I don't know about the answer, but it's definitely the strangest room in the vicarage. Looks purposefully desecrated, with objects and images that clearly don't belong in a priest's house.
Hey Sakura!

I'm the operator of the ROTH wiki that I very much started as a personal notebook of sorts and a testimony to the fondness that I have for this game. Coincidentally, this particular room, specifically the painting and the commentary it triggers from Adam and Rebecca, always left me in perplexion. Just like you, I've been unable to make any of it, so if there's any sharper folks out there to shed some light on this, feel free to help the clueless two of us! ;-P

It sounds like a reference to another one of Rebecca's psychic powers--a more elaborate description of which seems to have been removed from the game before publishing--"Future Sight," like telekinesis and the others. However, I've yet to finish the game so I can't be sure...just a guess.
Perhaps the band depicted is anachronistic given the room's ostensible last period of occupation--thus future sight is offered as an explanation?
It's actually a Radiohead poster; not that this makes the line any less vague. :P

Funny thing is, for me it turned out to be kind of accurate: I ended up owning this poster several years after I first played the game (of course I didn't recognise it until playing it again). Obviously they were talking about my future.

It's not quite exact, but there are enough similarities that I'm sure it's what they used as the source.

And here I was thinking, my fondness for this beloved game had already reached its zenith. Thanks a lot for your enlightening message. Radiohead has been a dear favourite of mine in the past and the band still has a dedicated spot hidden somewhere within the depths of my brain. I hope you don't mind if I add that newly acquired insight to my personal ROTH wiki?
Of course not. Based on your previous post, I had a feeling you might want to. :)

Thanks for maintaining the Wiki, by the way; it came in handy on my recent playthrough.
I always thought she meant that this room inside the house was from another time period, Maybe from sometime in a near future where vandals have invaded the derelict house, put graffiti on the walls, rock band posters and played their music.

This room also reminded me of the red room in Twin Peaks, with the bizarre TV and all.

@Kohde
Nice wiki. Keep up the good work.
