I know that the original DOS version ran at 320x200, which would technically be a 16:10 resolution in today's terms, but back when it was released, it was made to be displayed in 4:3 with non-square pixels. The 2010 version only seems to allow 16:10 resolutions, without any vertical stretching to make a 4:3 window. I know a lot of people probably don't mind or care, but I like to play games at their originally-intended aspect ratios. ;)

Does anyone know how to force a 4:3 resolution for this game? I saw it mentioned in another thread that this game sometimes does that as a fallback if none of its resolutions work. I'd really like to know.

Thanks. :D

I found this - Resolution support is very limited. The only resolutions listed in the launcher are 640x400, 960x600 and 1280x800. These are hard-coded so might not actually work in fullscreen mode. If a chosen resolution doesn't work in fullscreen mode the game falls back to a 4:3 fullscreen resolution; there doesn't seem to be any way to get the game running in a 16:9 resolution.

So I take it no one has attempted to code a patch?
It seems so.

Are you running it 16:10 in-game (letterbox) in a 4:3 (pillarbox with widescreen monitor) resolution now or is your video card stretching the 4:3 resolution?

Then again I might be confused.

There is no way to force the original 4:3 output with the 2010 version (4:3 resolutions are still letterboxed 16:10).

GOG would ideally add the DOS version at some point but that will probably never happen.

Raptor originally ran at 320x200, which for DOS was treated as a 4:3 resolution (non-square pixels); the 2010 version displays it as 16:10 (square pixels). The stretched output is how the game was back in the day but the 2010 version doesn't support doing that.

Thanks. Now I understand.
