Mountainking Studios, the original developer of Raptor (before known as Cygnus), did a sequel in 1998.

You can buy it here, it's called DemonStar and it's quite good: http://www.mking.com/

under windows seven\vista, enable compatibility option and set Windows 98, the game is DRM free

Why does the sequel have worst graphics than Raptor?
that' highly subjective. for me it doesn't. But sadly they suffer from dithering, as they used predered 3d models even if they only supported 256 color graphics.

Demonstar Secret mission 2 is the best looking one.

if you think that this http://www.mking.com/images/shot2_02.gif or this http://www.mking.com/images/shot4_02.gif is worse than Raptor graphics you need to do something about your eyes

Hey, thanks for the heads-up on Demonstar! I may pick it up sometime in the future. Hopefully GOG brings them to the service -- the Demonstar and the Secret Missions 1 & 2 run at $9.99 each. Not a bad price for fun games from an independent developer in my opinion but I'd rather buy a DS bundle with the usual GOG goodies :)
Oh wow, I didnt even know this existed!
Bought it and S2, but neither is as good as raptor.

Yeah would like to see that! :)
Galactix was the first game from them I had ever played. I loved it like crazy and everything about it is still deep in my brain.

I obtained Demonstar from a shareware demo disk a while back and I played the crud out of it as well.

It's great to see Raptor here on GOG so I can enjoy it too!
It's a little off topic, but what was Galactix like?
I didn't know this existed. I will try the freeware version for now and maybe buy it later.
I had played both, and just learned they were done by the same people. Both were excellent, the weapon pickups in demonstar are fantastic.
