On the first mission, one of the hostages is invisible. I know he's there because I can see him on the map as the white icon as you can see in this screenshot:

I've tried going into escort mode when I should be near the guy, but nothing happens. Any ideas?

Is this a building with multiple floors? If so, he might be on the floor above you.

I dont think so the mini map only shows the floor your on i think. I had that problem, there's another way of winning the mission, Kill all the terrorist. And i think you should check that out.

I've had a similar problem with a different map, where one of the four hostages simply was not there, making it impossible to complete the mission.

Does someone have any ideas about what causes this glitch ? I just picked the game and had the same problem ( in my case, the hostages at the theme park ).
I think it migh be the OS that causes that, I never had any problems with Win98... It just sucks having to reload the mission over and over to succeed !

I have the invisible hostage problem and even some of the terrorists are invisible making it impossible to complete the first mission. Does it have anything to do with the renderer? I can't get anything other than software to work. If anyone know what causes this (and know how to fix it) that would be great.

I too have this problem. I managed to pass the first mission but I'm unable to complete the second due to missing hostages or enemies (they show up on the heartbeat sensor, but there's nobody there)

Having this problem as well -- On the Theme Park mission... Supposed to be 5 hostages I believe, only 4 there. Escort mode doesn't do anything.

Me too.
I can't see hostage on the first floor. I don't think is a rendering problem because the hostage's point on heartbeat sensor doesn't move on enabling escort mode.

Add me to the list of people with this problem. I had an invisible hostage AND an invisible terrorist. I'm also unable to get sound (via my ATI 5770 using HDMI).

Well, before I was unable to see one hostage on the first mission and no hostages on the second mission, but now I am able to see them after uninstalling and messing around with the compatibility settings. I've restarted each mission about twenty times, so it seems to be permanent. I'm running on Windows 7.

-Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

-Disable visual themes is checked
-Disable desktop composition is checked
-Disable display scaling on high DPI settings is checked

-Run this program as an administrator is checked
