GeistSR: Dr. Cranium, a crazed relative(?) of Dr. Brain from older Sierra games - The Castle/Island of Dr. Brain.
I think this doesn't count because Corey Cole was the director and designer for Dr. Brain

But I don't know if he, specifically, invented the character.

It does sort of straddle the boundary between what's a unique character and what is inspiration. Both Dr. Brain and Dr. Cranium take inspiration from the mad scientist trope, and the real question is to what extent they have a unique character beyond the archetype they are based on. That's a very muddled line, since even the most unique ideas draw inspiration from elsewhere.

I wasn't thinking of it in that way, but thanks for the devil's advocate.
Ali Fakir of saurus selling fame looks an awful lot like Groucho Marx
I believe Corey Cole invented both Dr. Cranium and Dr. Brain. They're meant to be related. There are some plugs for Dr. Brain in QFG4 using Dr. Cranium. Sierra often shamelessly plugged other games.

Yep, and the guy who sells you the map and compass is based on Chico Marx
