DAlancole: Ummm ok...well....

Do you have an image mounting program like PowerISO in the first place?

If you want pretty pictures you will need to wait a bit as it's a bit late here and I need to go to work in the morning :P
lol, pretty pictures would do quite nicely! :)

No, I don't have said software, but I did already find there's a free download, so I figure I can get at least that far on my own.

I was just trying to be that guy who gives voice to all the other voiceless morons too embarrassed to admit they don't know what mounting an ISO or a PEPTO or whatever might mean.

What are we? MORONS!
What do we want? MUSIC!
When do we want it? AS SOON AS WE CAN FIGURE THIS SHIT OUT!
So, question, are these legal issues being worked on? Or is it far to ridiculous/hopeless to pursue?

I was trying to avoid calling people "morons" in a "HURRR! YER A MORON, 'ARRY!" kind of way :)

Like I said, pictures should be up and about either tomorrow or a bit later.

If you actually put up pictures, you would be owed a medal. :) Or at least my eternal gratitude.

And although I haven't made pics, I have actually tried to do the same thing myself when needed. :)

I doubt it, bet you even money that Bethesda bitched out about GOG having the better version and the Steam crowd got a hold of it and caused a ruckus.

I'm pretty sure Bethesda isn't the problem here. The music is from Trent Reznor, more known for his band Nine Inch Nails. Back then it was a big thing that he did the music for a game, so I'm pretty sure he had a special deal with iD. And here I guess is the problem, as it's risky to release a kind of separate soundtrack, which means out of the box playable music files.

At the moment I'm thinking about if I really should get the bundle now for safety reasons or wait for a sale. Because from other games like the Realms of The Arkania series I'm not sure if in worst case GOG needs to remove music from the game completely. I have the original Quake disc laying around here, one of the few games I didn't trashed back then, but I don't have the missions pack.

"Reznor was also responsible for the game's sound effects."

Perhaps GOG should remove them too?

LOL! That honestly made me laugh out loud for real.
You can have a disk image but no ogg files?
Bull. Requesting refund then.

Paczyk: Hi guys,

Unfortunately due to complicated legal issues we needed to remove the ogg music from the game. Instead we've added disk images into the build so that the DosBox version stays intact (as DosBox can mount CD images by itself). As for the Windows version, if you happen to have the game's CD you can just insert it and play the game with music.

I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience, but the world of legal agreements written 20 years ago can be ... a complicated one.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the game!
<S>I want request a refund as well.</S> I have several legit copies of quake already including steam purchases on multiple accounts, original CDs, live quake etc... - I just wanted to support a new release that had the music included without having to jump through hoops, mount cd's, rip tracks etc... to help prove there is still an interest in these older titles. However this factor along with no perceivable updates to any other aspects ie. resolution issues & wide screen support still a pain for starters.

<S>I am sad to say from my end this really doesn't appear to be much more than somebodies original quake folder sterilized, zipped and sold for 10 bucks.</S> Great if you have never owned a copy, not so much if you have a dozen or so different versions and releases already.

Edit: I want to recant my request for refund. Also with the few easy steps to restore playability, instead I would rather like to thank GOG for leaving what they could in tact. -now if we can get an easy 1080p solution that doesn't involve downloading other executables and replacing dll's

Yeah, I bought the Steam version and the CD version. Even have the big box, I don't have a disk drive sadly so I can't play the music AT ALL then without using a damn CD Emulator.

Also this.

Ah, so only winquake do not have the soundtrack. Well, not problem since the dosbox come with the music. I can rip to the .oog format.
Well my CUE splitter doesn't seem to want to split them (gives me these three 1 kb tracks) and I can't really find anything on game.cue when I mount it.
Shame. Hopefully GOG is willing to sort this out, but I assume they might not want to pay possible legal fees involved.

Still, I'll be picking up Doom, and maybe I'll get this on sale.
