Hi All,
So we all heard about music copyrights issue and about "2 seconds" leap in Quake and its Mission Pack II: Dissolution of Eternity.
I don't care less, all I want is to launch 3 games with music on and WITHOUT Virtual Drive mounting (e.g. Daemon Tools) or other source ports installing (e.g. Quakespasm).

What I did:
1. edited cue sheets to remove 2 seconds issue in Quake and Dissolution of Eternity audio tracks.
2. mounted CDs: game.cue, gamea.cue and gamed.cue
3. ripped audio tracks into .ogg files
4. placed them in music folders respectively to Id1, hipnotic and rogue
5. launched games >>> nothing happens [no music]

Please help, I believe initial GOG version allowed players to play glQuake with music. What exact config file should I edit and how?

EDIT: OS Win7 64-bit

This question / problem has been solved by etbimage
EDIT: NOT resolved yet!
filename _winmm.dll to be renamed to winmm.dll, OGG files to be placed to respective folders:
Quake/Music - covers all 3 games with the same audio tracks
Quake/hipnotic/music - no changes
Quake/rogue/music - no changes

P.S. Replacing opengl32.dll file from Windows folder slightly reduced texture flickering on ammo boxes and also removed cool 3DFx logo from nGlide.

Now's my turn: Are you OK?
My point is very simple, some very capable programmers took the original code of Quake (that is now open source) and made it work with ease in modern system for free.

You for some reason do not want to use this great work, and ask help to solve a problem that is not there.
I am sorry we cannot help you, the help is already there but you do not want it.

Here come the "He who makes his bed must lie in it."

Please forgive my naïveté, I only wanted to run GOG version with music as it used to(should) be. Don't mind doing extra tweaking, just can't understand how to make glQuake look up Mission Packs' music folders.

And thanks for pointing out that Quake is now open source, never heard of it before you showed up. I wonder how far these so called "capable programmers" can be, maybe at least a couple of them find some work at GOG... who knows.

And let me again thank you for your help and great support with my mundane question. I downloaded so much advertised Quakespasm and moved the files into Quake folder and my Norton quarantined half the files, another half it just removed because it has "bad reputation".
That's another reason I don't want to install 3rd party "ports", but you probably knew it all already.
And this double mentioning of proverb about making one's bed... it was just brilliant, you absolutely nailed me.
OK, Quake 1 music works perfectly. And Mission Packs took the music for the same Quake 1 folder.

Technically it's possible to rename Mission Packs's OGG files to "track12"-"track19" (MP1) & "track20-track28" (MP2), then tweak PAK files into thinking that it should search track number+8 for MP1 and +16 for MP2.

But I can't do programming/coding for this Music folder workaround, because I'm not that smart, or maybe I'm just plain stupid. This should be very easy.

This leads me to the last possible way to run all 3 games properly and without mounting Audio CD and using "free ports" (full of vile digital beasts).

LAZY SOLUTION is to split Quake folder into 3 separate folders for each game/mission pack respectively, copy associated .OGG files into MUSIC and amend destination path for 2 Mission Packs' shortcuts, like in good old DOS times.

Cause I can't mark my own reply as a solution, my good friend from Japan will do the trick: after all he/she was very helpful.

P.S. In case I find out how to tweak Mission Packs PAK files properly to look up "corrected" track number, I'll post it here.
