Started playing the game on hard, saving as I go etc...
But the save games sometimes failed to load.
I had to do the first level all in one hit for example, but he 2nd level i was able to reload saves. I don't know, sometimes i can reload saves other times i can't, not sure why.

And every single time i try to back track into a previous level the game fails to reload the levels again, I just cannot play the campaign at all if this is happening. It all works going to a new level, but as said when i back track from 3rd, to 2nd level for example it just doesn't load.

The error message is as follows
"ERROR: Game Error: ReadLevel: Function pointers have moved
*******************
==== ShutdownGame===="

Is there any solution to this?

Have you tried a source port like KMQuake 2 or Yamagi?
No i haven't, just downloaded straight from Gog.
I wouldnt think i'd have to try anything like that, I thought gog was meant to make these games compatible with windows 7 and upwards.

Try it. Most of the time GOG can't legally add community made patches, source ports, mods, etc. The community will always care more about a game. I'm extremely grateful source ports exist. They improve graphics, sound, controls, etc. It's well worth using them.
