Apologies in advance for this probably-stupid question, as I just got myself a halfway-decent laptop and am attempting to acclimate myself to the ways of PC gaming...

I downloaded and installed Puddle, but every time I try to start it up I'm told that there's a "Parsing error inside file Settings.dat - Error: File not found / At line 0, column 0."

I'm not sure how to go about solving this...any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Two questions:
1) Did you install the game in Program Files folder? If so reinstall it to some other location
2) Do you have administrator rights? Setting.dat is generated in My documents\Puddle folder so if you are running the game without admin rights perhaps it cannot write there.
Thanks for answering, sorry I haven't stopped back sooner. As to your questions:

1) No, I installed the game someplace else from the start.

2) I'm the only one who uses this laptop, so I don't think I'm limited in what I can do with it...

If there are any other possible solutions you can think of I'd appreciate it. Thanks again.

You could try to reinstall the game using "Run as admininstrator" on the setup file (though I didn't have to do that). Also, just in case you're not using shortcuts: you're supposed to run "Launcher.exe", not "Puddle.exe".

Believe it or not, this turned out to be the problem: I tried "launcher" and the game started right up.

Thanks very much for your help! :)
