This guide uses 2 programs to get multiplayer Project Eden to work flawlessly.

Step 1. Install Hamachi and connect to the same Hamachi network. This is free for 5 pcs signed into the same network.

Before you start step 2, make sure you can ping each other in the Hamachi program, You can right click their computer in the list and select ping.
If pinging the computers time out. open command prompt as an administrator, and type ipconfig /flushdns
do this for both computers and reboot. If you still can't ping each other, then I'm unable to help you further.

Step 2. Download IPXWrapper www.solemnwarning.net/ipxwrapper/
as of this post the file name looks like ipxwrapper-0.4.0.zip
Extract the folder somewhere.

Step 3. There are 2 registry files inside. directplay-win32.reg and directplay-win64.reg
Run the 32 or the 64 depending on your operating system.

Step 4. run ipxconfig.exe
Make sure Primary interface is set to Wildcard interface, and highlight
Wildcard interface.
Optional - You can set your Broadcast port to any number, just make sure your other computers match the number as well.
Click apply and OK.

Step 5. In the IPXWrapper folder locate and copy the 4 .DLL files
dpwsockx.dll
ipxwrapper.dll
mswsock.dll
wsock32.dll

Paste these 4 files inside the base directory for Project Eden (The same place the eden.exe file is located)

Step 6. Run the game and use IPX for connecting, NOT TCP
If done correctly you will almost INSTANTLY see a hosted game.

Basically, IPX is so much easier for connecting, but computers after windows XP no longer feature this. The IPX wrapper creates the environment needed to connect, and the Hamachi enables an un-firewalled network for fewer complications.

I hope this helps others out there as I found no solution when I searched the web for an answer. :)

Gonna give this a shot when I get a chance. I've been dying to finish my co op game but I can never get the game to work in multi. I got it working with FOUR people my first two times, it left a good impression of the game but then it stopped. We tried everything to no avail, hopefully this works.
I can verify this works like a charm. This tutorial is great. :) I managed to beat Project Eden in coop, FINALLY. Been waiting to do that for years. LOL
This works perfectly.
Confirming this still works on windows 8.1 pro as of the post date.

Interesting shenanigans took place with my 12 year old cousin.
Guys , just a quick heads up.Tunggle works flawlessly for Project Eden.I had troubles finding games with Hamachi or Gameranger, but now it works perfectly ;).Cheers

Did you still have to use IPXWrapper for this, or just Tunngle?
Sweet!
Hamachi + IPX wrapper works for my friend and me.
Thanks for the guide!
I don't have a protocol IPX why?
How do you get it to work without hamachi?

A friend and I are set to play this using Zero Tier One. We performed a test connection today and there is minimal lag

If you're not a fan of Hamachi, it appears to work flawlessly with Radmin VPN + IPX wrapper.

Sad that Tunngle is no longer with us. :'(

How Good Is The latency? is the movement instant or it takes some ms to move
Anyone able to get the game working with Gameranger? The game refuses to launch if you don't use a description for some reason and even when I do launch it, I get stuck on the main menu where the cityscape background will load but the menu itself won't so I can't click on or do anything.
My friend is having the same issues.
This method definitely work but I hate the movement delay, me and my girlfriend played it when we were in different states and had the movement delay, now we play right next to each other in the same home and there is still a movement delay? Is there any way to fix that?
