I saw a previous posting about this but it didn't seem to have any fix available. Basically, as soon as I fix the building's in the Alley of Lingering Sighs and talk to the face, it tells me the path is open and my party runs through, clicking the only dialogue option available promptly crashes the game. There doesn't seem to be any way around this dialogue tree and I've reloaded and tried various different things including dropping my items, doing other quests and whatnot but the crash happens every time. Please help. The last post I saw on here asked for the WeiDU log so here that is:

They also asked for the save game but GOG won't let me upload that. If anyone can help, I'd be happy to provide it via email or whatever else will allow me to transfer it. Oh, I'm also running Windows 8 64-bit. Thanks in advance.

*UPDATE* As is so often the case, immediately after posting this, I managed to fix it by removing all items INCLUDING equipped items and then it loaded the cutscene and brought me through. I could then go back to pick up my lost items and return successfully to the new area. If anyone working on the mods for this game is reading this, I have kept my save game from the crash so if you'd like to investigate, let me know how I can get the save game to you and I'd be happy to do so.

Glad that helped! Enjoy the rest of the game.
Thanks very much for this. I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to continue this game because of this.
I found a less time-consuming fix.

If you leave your party members at the top left of the screen and select only your character to approach the stone face alone, there is no crash.

Curious!

I've tried that but had the crash occur again, how far over do they need to be?

Also, regarding items, do you need to drop everything from every single character or just the Nameless One?

I was playing at a 1440p resolution, and still they were far to the top left, so pretty far over.
I am running PS:T with the standard fare of mods and encountered this problem as well.

I found a solution to this problem that didn't include killing anyone, dropping any items, changing subtitle preferences, or positioning any party members in specific places. This was prompted due to none of the aforementioned options working in my case.

It seemed the issue was that the cutscene wasn't loading for whatever reason. In desperation, I checked the 'Movies' section of the option menu and found said cutscene: "The Alley's Birth." I played this cutscene from this menu in its entirety while standing near the Alley itself, and then spoke to it the final time. After this, the cutscene played again properly and I was able to transition to the Lower Ward (and Morte was able to be captured).

I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but it is literally the only thing that allowed me to progress past this point in the game.

I did this as well as leaving my party members in the top left, so I'm not certain which one actually did the trick. Thanks!
Tried all the above listed solutions individually and in various combinations without success, finally got through after re-running the widescreen mod and lowering my resolution back to the original 640x480 (and also leaving my party members by the exit, don't know if that made any difference).

Given the variety of solutions that have worked for different people, I can't help but wonder if it's actually just a case of reloading and retrying again and again, till some internal RNG lets you through...
