I've tried running this in a few compatability modes (I'm on Windows 7 64-bit) and it seems to be running at the maximum possible speed making it impossible to play. It is possible to slow it down with the options menu but his seems like an obvious bug on windows 7 (as I've seen other complaining of problems with windows 7 on here). Seems strange that this should have these problems when Zeus and Ceasar 3 work fine and the store page for the game says it supports windows 7 64-bit.

Well, at least you managed to launch it under Windows 7 64 bits and I envy you for that.

There is a speed menu in the options tab at the upper edge of the screen, if this doesn"t work.. Well, I think there's no way to slow it down.

Speed setting 10 is the default and it's indeed much faster than it should be, but setting 9 is much more reasonable and below that it's pretty much as you'd expect it to be as well. As it is, setting 10 effectively becomes the "fast forward" button but that's OK given that 1-9 works just fine.
GOG has it set at default for 100% game speed and 100% scroll speed.

myself I play with 100% and 80% respectively. you can change the speed when playing a map, via the options drop menu
How can I set speed settings like KEgstedt says? I can only get 10, 20, 30 etc and nothing in between. 10% scroll speed is just too fast on my system.

The best way I've found to slow down the speed of the game is through the in game options menu. I have my game speed set for %70 and I just use my arrow keys for scrolling.

That's strange, because I got a high-end quad-core system, and the game is perfectly playable at 90%.
I have an Intel i3 dual-core laptop running Win7 64-bit, and the game runs very comfortably at a speed setting of 50%. While I'm waiting on something (say, for industry to build up), I'll crank the speed up to 80% and just sit back.
I usually play at 90%, though sometimes (like when I'm waiting for people to imegrate and fill my houses) even 100% feels too slow.

also I turn it down to 10% to build my housing blocks
I think this is a "hardware acceleration" problem. On windows 7 64 bit I had the same trouble on mechwarrior 3/pirates moon. Not gonna play this fuckin game when it has such a huge bug. 100% is warp speed and 10% choppy graphics is just super annoying.
then play the game at 50-90 , it only speeds up 300% (I think that's the number I saw else where) when you have it at 100% at 90% it's actually 90%.
Hi all! Been playing it on laptop win7 (widescreen patch) and it worked perfectly and on 100% speed it went pretty fast but i didn't bother with that, don't know if it's normal 100% speed or not, but on winXP the game went toooo slow at 100% speed, finally when i updated winXP and especially Microsoft .NET frameworks to newer version 3.5 the game worked perfectly again. I tried everything, formatted windows, updating drivers, but never installed frameworks till this time. So i'm 90% sure it's Frameworks, although i installed a lot of other updates with it, well..try and see for yourself! ;) I'm not in the mood to uninstall and install again to see if its 100% Frameworks responsible. So, if anybody has the same problem or similar or will have in the future i'm glad that my 3 day campaign in front of the computer resulted with success! ^^ Maybe this can also apply for running too fast. Don't know but it's worth a try! ;) Enjoy!
