I'm having problems with upgrading my houses to Modest Homesteads. The problem is that they require better entertainment but I only have jugglers. I watched some videos on youtube and their houses upgrade without any problems. Can't figure out what the problem is. :-/

Please help!

This question / problem has been solved by xyrisimage
Place more booths around houses?
Tried that. No effect. :(

Well I can still use cheats but I rather wouldn't.
It's difficult to say what could be your problem because in the pic you have posted I can't actually see the town because you have the message window covering it. I completed this mission this afternoon, but I'm going to redo it because I ended in debt, & I'd like to get it down.

I tried working to this guys method....

Here is the city. They have acces to everything that this mission has. I watched his video and I still cant see why those houses upgrade but others don't.

Even found this: http://www.villages-and-cities.de/extern/grumpus/which_way_to_thebes/data/housing.html and this http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Pharaoh/Housing

EDIT: This is a new city, I just restart to try and figure out what is wrong before I go into debt.

Ohohohoho! Well I'll be damned! It was the damn DIFFICULTY setting! I was playing on hard but then I lowered it to normal and POOF every house instantly upgraded! It looks like that on hard Modest Homestead housing requires at least two different entertainment buildings.

Thank you all for helping, and finaly I can go finish this damn mission. :)
It does look ok, only things I've done different is, I have more granaries & jugglers. One thing I'm missing in your pic (which might be out of the picture) I can't see a palace anywhere? Plus I "think" this mission requires a population of 600 (I may be wrong) yours is only 551.

There's that way of doing it too, but I'm planning on trying to beat it on harder levels also , or at least try lol

There is no palace on that picture because I havent built it. :) It was a "test" city build in 5 minutes where I was trying to see what could be wrong. Original city had about 1000 people and 6 granaries full of figs and a palace. It had everything but those upgraded homes. Anyway it just poped-up the Victory screen after I set the difficulty to normal so it's all good.
Congrats, now you can start all over again lol

I realy don't think you can. Probably because it's a sort of tutorial mission and it just isn't balanced proprely. If you DO manage to win this mission on hard I'll eat a raw potato! :D
could you upload the save file, we can't really say why you are having that problem, no without being able to actually see the map.

I'm positive that all the levels have and are able to be completed on any difficulty. Even the tutorials.

I only bought the game yesterday, so I don't see it any time soon, but keep a potato handy :P

Is there a reason for the design of your housing blocks, I always found it more efficient to have a big square with houses inside the square, all services on the outside and beatification stuff inside the square to have enough appeal.

Also another comment, I see you are putting 6 houses together, in Pharaoh each 4 combine together to upgrade to higher house leaving 2 not going to upgrade beyond a certain point for you later in the game

Exactly, in my opinion the most effective is to bulid 4x4 housing areas, surrounded by paths. 2x3 won't be efficiently upgreadable. But that's my point of view, not a fact, I guess.
