It took some time, until I started a playthrough, but now here I am, 90 hours in...

The game ran so smooth at the beginning, but now is a complete mess. Saving takes several seconds and the game seems to have a big lag now, not smooth/fluent like during the first dozen hours...

I read something about a logfile within the saves, that grows with every item left behind on any map, but the workaround explained to open the savegames with a Zip program, but apparently I cannot extract anything from the savefile.

Also several friends are experiencing theses issues, so how come these are not adressed, yet?!

The game is really awesome, but it tries to sabotage itself with a whole bunch of little unnecessities.

Is there anything, that helps in that case? Or do I have to force myself to quicksave a lot less frequently than in the beginnung of the game xD

1. There is this mod: Cleaner
2. You can decrease the number of autosaves and / or archive and move some of the hard saves to another directory.
3. On the other hand, I like that everything remains on the map. May be with enough resources they could have added some "decay" feature (like, a suit of leather armour will rot in 5 years), but otherwise I consider it more a feature than a bug.

I actually only have 3 quicksaves, 3 manual saves and 3 autosaves... I always delete the older saves... is this still too much and causing the lag?
Also I would not like to remove NPCs as said in the description of that tool, but thank very much for the heads up.

I also don't think of all the remaining stuff as a bug, I like the idea, that nothing goes missing by accident.. but it's a shame, that this feature is costing so much ressources...

I will have a closer look concerning the mod, thanks again.
Lag mostly comes from unity working with multiple cores and AA. So turn off AA, install process lasso and limit core usage to 4 or 3. And install cleaner to avoid savegame bloat, which does happen rather fast. If anything, it will improve late-game load times a bit and you will be able to use cloud saving..
