korell: What about the Steam version? How do the load times compare to that one?

Magmarock: Sorry for the late reply. The steam version loads as fast as the DVD version I believe.
Definitely one to send to GOG support then, as it implies it is an issue with their version alone and not just all digital distribution copies.

I think I did and they said to post it on the forums.

We added patch that address this issue. It should appear as 'Universal update' under 'My Account > Painkiller Black'

Ah, was wondering what that was for. Thank you for the post.

Suggestion: You should make a sticky post with a change log/list of changes if you release a new patch for any game.

My thought exactly. Not to mention that I love reading change logs. :B
Does this mean I can finally use vsync without that annoying load delay?

With vsync off the save or new level would load in about three seconds for me. With vsync on it was so long I didn't want to play the game. I didn't have the patience to time it. I'm not sure if this is the same problem that everybody else is discussing.

Also, with vsync on the GPU runs a lot cooler because it's not trying to maintain 600 fps!

Nevermind. I reread the posts above and realized that the answer to my question is yes. I can't wait to try it out.

Magmarock: Wow it's been a while since I've come here. Anyway I know what is causing it and it's actually an outdated engine file. The steam version and the DVD/CD version do not have this problem.
Thank you very much. If you hadn't done this GOG may never have known that they could fix it. I bought this game here 3.5 years ago and it's finally fixed.
I just tested it and I can finally use multisampling and force vsync in the Nvidia control panel without that horrible delay.

Thank you, GOG, for following up on this old game.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I have just tested the new patch and it works wonderfully. I'd just like to express my gratitude and appreciation to the GOG staff for taking the time to act on the issue I addressed. Proof, that not only do you get great games but great service too. So thanks again for your assistance and great customer care. :)

Painkiller Overdose (gog and steam versions) has the same problem, can you fix please? (All other PK games, that are only on steam, are affected too...)

I want to use v-sync...
