The Patch came out on Saturday (Aus) and both gog and JAW are small companies who prob don't work over the weekend.

I would say give it a week or two we may see it.

mxh178: "Until recently GOG didn't have an update facility in place for us to offer such a service. Now that they do we will be giving GOG's customers the HD update."

just to be clear, the "offer" that they said was only for steam was the free-ness of the update, not the update, and now they've said the update will be coming to GOG

does GOG charge for updates?

just because something happens that is only available one way doesn't mean it won't be available another way later, and doesn't mean that the thing you don't use sucks because you don't like it

nevermind, i'll go be illiterate somewhere else
You know, the original announcement was released back in early January and they made it clear it's only available for Steam user. Didn't bother to respond to email, tweets about the availability of the patch for non-Steam customer. Did nothing to shed light on the situation even though you can see they regularly update the progress of the HD patch on their twitter and Steam page.

Only after a Steam member directly asked one of their developer on their Steam page, they came with that statement. But that was like 5 or 6 months later from the original announcement, it's not even an official stance and ever since that day we haven't received any news about the patch for non-Steam customer.

Back to the Stranger Wrath HD patch, i don't think they will come out for non-Steam platform soon. Not until they iron out most of the bugs and performance issue. Only Steam offer automatic updating, so it make sense they're working on Steam first.

p/s: The latest Psychonauts update, which included many major improvements is only available on Steam. Although it was different developer, but both share quite few similarities. I don't think it's far fetch to think Stranger Wrath HD PC is Steam exclusive for the moment. Not until i read an official statement.

Fair enough, I just think the hate could be dialed down a bit.

The fact that a small developer isn't able to deliver a free update to every service that sells the game at the same time (or at all) doesn't seem that unreasonable.

You bought the game, and you enjoyed it (at least enough to care about an update), so don't instantly turn around and say they are awful and you'll never pay for anything of theirs again? I dunno...
The 'hate' if you perceived it as that, already dialed down.. in fact months ago. Beside i don't think anyone here ever said they're not gonna buy anything from JAW again or they are awful as a game developer.

I bought the game, fortunately i was able to enjoy it even though with very little issues. But don't forget there are still many user out there are not able to play the game without major issues, including the retail owner. You can scroll through this sub-forum and many other review sites out there. The issues dated back from the original release date, 2 years ago.

That's why i'm bit surprised to see your reaction here.

JAW consists of 12 persons. JUST TWELVE. I'd say that they can take a bit of time to put this on gog if they need it. But they should, because gog is no second rate publisher just because it's DRM free. This is a matter of principle.
Edit: Offer withdrawn for obvious reasons.

Thanks so much for the heads up - the gog support had still been rather vague even yesterday. ;)

January. I'll buy it then.
Actually, i don't really care about the HD patch. The game at current state already looking good, unfortunately the same can't be said to some portion of the customer because of various technical issue.

The site mention next January, hope it all works well since the patch already off the schedule long time ago..
Now, the day we all been waiting for has come. Stranger Wrath HD is now available. 3GB in size, i guess we have to redownload the installer again.

Big thanks to JAW, GOG and all the beta tester.
Let's see if I get happy with this one - downloading now. ;)

Abe's Odyssey HD next please!!
