If you buy it, then currently you can't download the original version anymore.
That one is gone from the library and since the new one is a preorder, no download links for any version are available.

My original Observer version is still in my library to download after buying Redux. So either they fixed it, or just make sure to search for ">observer" and not just "observer" in your library.

Nice ... who would have guessed. I tried "_observer" (which is obviously wrong) and observer, but not ">observer"

Just played around with the search engine for a bit.
Looks like it only checks exact matches at the beginning of words if you don't use wildcards.
So "server" won't find any matches, even if the sequence is present in at least 2 games, "*server" however does. It's a bit embarassing that after all these years and way over 1000 games on GOG I didn't learn that on my own :D

Thank you for your input.
Anyone know if save games from the original will be compatible or will you have to start all over again?
Apparently, it is now available in GOG:

https://www.gog.com/game/observer_system_redux_deluxe_edition

No discount for the owners of the original, though.

No, we DID get an additional discount.
From the Newsletter: " Lucky you! You got an additional 70% discount on Observer: System Redux because you own >observer_
SAVE 80% » "
I bought it 6 days ago on GOG for 5€.

The discount only lasted until release of the game.
So no more 80% off for previous version owners as of now.
Well save games from the original do not seem to be compatible with Redux :(

My last save was in some type of floor level air ducts and all I got was a dark screen with a blob that rapidly swayed around like it was drunk, same for the Case Log, that was swaying all over the place like it was drunk too so wasn't playable at all!

Seems we have to start all over again!
nvm

I was looking forward to the release of this game. I thought there would be a discount for existing owners. I appreciate there are extras in the redux version, which I'd pay for, but don't want to pay for a whole game as a patch to the buggy original.

As you already were told, there was an -80% discount for owners of the original, but it's only lasted till release date.

That's fine but I didn't know about it until after the release date. I saw the release date was the 12th so came looking for it on that day. I don't see really what changes, I paid full freight for the original surely that's worth something. I dare say, the original is probably now going to be abandoned by the dev in it's current buggy state.

I got the newsletter telling me about the discount for owners about a week go.

It was a preorder offer, the same offer was given to those players who own the game on EpicGames.
It's a decision made by the publisher, not GOG.
