Why no Linux?
There is a Linux port of this game on Steam. I would love to get the DRM-free gog version instead.

We're waiting for some technical issues to get resolved before it gets released here.

As of right now, no. Sorry!

The Humble Store has Nuclear Throne DRM-free and for Linux.

Though I already had the Humble Store version, I went ahead and plopped down for the GOG version in order to support DRM-free releases.

I have the Linux version, iirc. I got it once in a Humble Bundle. Also there it seems it never got updated. It is basically playable but you may get a mess with the resolution on fullscreen startup (that I have to fix each time by siwtching to windowed mode and back to fullscreen) and the game definitely does have a few bugs, though they are relatively rare. E.g. I couldn't get one secret level to work at all and an early intermediate boss spawns rarely in a way where you can't reach it or it can't reach you and you have to restart.

The game has a very high difficulty (at least in my eyes) and it is very luck dependent (distribution of emenies, map randomization, powerups / mutations). I got past the ice world one or two times but no further.

I'd be happy if an up to date version was available anywhere. It sucks that Steam seems to receive all the updates and attention while paying DRM-free customers are left in the dark.
What's holding the Linux version back?

I got the Indiebox version of this game and the USB it came with did not have all of the files needed to work on Linux.

Indiebox got back to me but the fix they gave me - now has the game working but I am having the issue you are having. I log on here to see if others were having the same issue.

What a shame.

First incarnations of Nuclear Throne were way more difficult than the version that came to GOG. Ammo crates earned you less ammo and the RNG could ruthlessly spawn you into the worst place of a level. Maybe that's what you are experiencing in the never updated Humble Linux version.

I have already burned Nuclear Throne. However, I hope this game gets eventually updated, just for my peace of mind after so many months (now years) of waiting. From now on, I will be extremely wary when dealing with products from Vlambeer and I will warn everyone about this incident with each game they release. Abandoning this game in all platforms but Windows and in all sites but Steam has been an extremely bad move from the developers.

Thanks for the info. Yes, sometimes you get spawned into places that are just unfair.

Indeed. I shall keep that in mind, too. I mean, especially changes to in-game mechanics shouldn't be much of a trouble, a simple recompile would be enough. There's nothing to be adjusted when it comes to the OS-related parts. Unless they'd fix that stupid fullscreen issue.
+1 for a Linux version in GOG
the humble bundle version is too old
any news on this? Does anyone know if vlambeer is going to add the linux port to gog or are we going to have to wait 2 years?
2022 and still no Linux.
