So my notebook computer has no Middle Mouse Button (Button number 2) and I can't disassemble stuff. But when I bought and installed an X-Box controller, the game didn't recognize the controller. How do I change this? When I hit [ESC] and go to Controls, the panel for Controller is there, but nothing I do will enter the appropriate controls.

Ideally, I need the little {X} button to disassemble items in my inventory.

Anyone know what I need to do to activate the X-Box controller for No Man's Sky? The X-Box One Controller is USB and I've calibrated it for the notebook.

Try turning off your touchpad? I know that the game will auto-switch between keyboard/mouse and a controller (a joystick via x360ce in my case) and it's *possible* that the touchpad keeps asserting "Hey, I'm a mouse and I'm here and active!" (or something) preventing the controller from, well, taking control.

You may also try remapping the keys. I've customized the layout a fair amount and ended up with the "pick it up" key on "T" (which looks kind of like an up arrow if you squint).

Remap. You should be able to swap a Mouse 2 control for Mouse 3 (RMB) or any unused keypad key.

HG does hard code some functions. Scrolling through the trade terminal sell/buy lists is always W/S even though all of my movement keys are S/X, for example. But since my "go backward" key is X and X was Build (IIRC), I moved Build over to G, etc. etc. Whatever works and whatever you're comfortable with.

The only caveat is to avoid a situation like the default layout where the RMB menu cancel function shares the RMB with "launch secondary weapon." Lots of inadvertant self immolation with the default layout.
