sandwix: However it does not list changes for the 1289496 version at the moment
avatar
Xerojenix: Yeah, that's the one I was wondering about. I think 1289496 is Patch 2 mentioned in the Steam thread above. (Because Patch 1 is listed as fixing Phenom support, which is what 1287169 did) ... so I guess there's another imminent patch incoming.
No we have the latest patch Steam has.
I'll be fair they have been keeping us on the same patch level even if they somehow missed a set of fixes in the first patch. Even if they haven't been giving us the experimental patches either.
Our patch 1284085 was broken.
If you compare those numbers from our patches they match the Steam Build IDs found on https://steamdb.info/app/275850/history/

1289496 is Patch 3
1287169 is Patch 2
1284085 is Patch 1 - GOG version here was missing the Phenom Fixes for this version.

Example here are 1289496 & 1287169 & 1284085, but no other builds, being moved from the Beta Experimental branch to the main branch as shown on SteamDB about the same time we got those patches:

Red_Eagle_LXIX: Our patch 1287169 was broken.
Really? 1287169 is what I have installed through Galaxy and it's the first version that's prevented crash-on-boot on my Phenom (excepting use of SDE.exe of course, but that allowed it to run at about 5fps). And the frame rate's now smooth enough for me to play with all settings on high or ultra at 2560x1600...

Someone *else* was saying that their performance dropped again upon installing 1289496, so I've held off for now...
Now, let me read the rest of your post carefully...
So, I'm on Patch 2 then...

Fixed that, copied the wrong build number there.
It should have said "Our patch 1284085 was broken. " to match the:
1284085 is Patch 1 - GOG version here was missing the Phenom Fixes for this version.

I downloaded Galaxy but it says my game isn't installed. Do I have to reinstall the game through Galaxy in order to get these patches? And there's a patch 1287169 in the downloads list when I go on my account in the regular browser. Not sure what I should do.

If you have the game already installed, just use the "Scan & Import" function in Galaxy in order to add the game to Galaxy :) Open Galaxy, click the big "GOG Galaxy" button and select "Scan & Import Folders" from the drop down menu, and point Galaxy to the folder where your current install of NMS resides.

Let Galaxy do its thing and once it's done you will get all updates via Galaxy as long as you have the game set to receive automatic updates :) Let me know if you have any questions :)

Thanks for the help. It's my first time using Galaxy.

Changelog for Patch 1289496 / GOG-5 (22 August 2016):

Patch 3
- Patch 3 is targeted at our next most common support requests, fixing the next most common crashes, as well as trying to help players who have become stranded or have corrupted their save files.

Stranded in Space Station
- If you died in your ship while in atmosphere of a planet with a damaged ship, you could respawn in a space station with your launch thrusters and pulse engine damaged. If you did not have the resources to fix them then you could no longer take off and be stuck there. This will no longer happen.

Loading Corrupted Save Files
- Some players have corrupted save files, we’ve been working with them to still load saves even if they are corrupted (this can happen for many reasons outside of the games control). This fix has allowed many players to still load their save even if they have become corrupt on PC.
- Crash fixes for next three most commonly reported issues:
- As the player gathers a huge amount of discoveries, there was a threading issue that becomes more prevalent the more discoveries you have, and could cause the game to crash.
- If you had collected a large number of blueprints, in a specific order it was possible to crash the game when you - received a new blueprint. This has been fixed.
- Players who set a large number of waypoints could find themselves in a situation where they could crash the game in the Galactic Map, this is remedied now (PS. A better waypoint system is coming).

As I expected given the build numbers matched the SteamBuild ID numbers. (Plus I tested the space station one based on another thread).

If you have started playing offline, and add the game to Galaxy later on, will you be able to continue with your existing savegame?

I've been moving saves around as I tested issues with Wine on my home install and I could play the game after adding it to Galaxy after playing offline.

All you need to do is copy your saves from the users\<user name>\Application Data\HelloGames folder to back it up and you can see this for yourself :)
The "Internal" patch that went live about 4 hours ago Build ID "1300013" JUST hit the experimental branch on steam.

We need to get on this to see what has changed!

I've given up, if you want experimental, get Steam or pirate. HelloGames can't be bothered to properly support GOG. GOG either won't enforce or doesn't have any contractual way to make the treatment equal. Therefor we get stuck getting the patches basically when they come out, in an untested form for GOG users (as was apparent by an entire major part of the code rewrite for Phenom processors not working in Patch 1.

If one has to pirate to get a DRM free copy that works and is patched at the same level as the DRM copy, then what point was the purchase on GOG again?

It seems HG is good at lack of communicating evenly.

What's the point of purchasing overhyped overprized terrible ps4 ports on pc. And in top of that, if all of this wasn't enough, the game is broken/buggy/unfinished. Wow. The game shouldn't be broken in firrst place, you want to be a beta early access tester for 60€? Not GOG's fault.

There are multiple reason to purchase games on GOG, I think everyone here knows it already. There are zero reasons to buy NMS, here, in Steam or in PS4.

Your bias against the game is showing and blinding you to the point.
