Title says all. Like, do I have to be a hero and save my teacher? Can I choose to be the bad guy?

(Incidentally, after owning NWN for many months, I have FINALLY been enjoying some of the official content. Specifically, I have been really enjoying HoU, and I'm wondering if it's partly because I'm playing an evil character now. I must say I really enjoy the dialogue options to insult people and ruin their fairy tale lives by refusing to help them.)

In a word, no. You can BE evil, and it will have an effect on the way some NPCs treat you and alliances you might forge along the way, but it won't affect the way the plot unfolds. The enemies won't cozy up to you no matter your alignment.

SPOILER-

Killing Drogan would break the plot (you need him to hold a portal open in the last chapter).
