Hey all, I just downloaded NWN for old time sake, and upon trying to run it, I encountered really bad sound distortion. I was able to get rid of it by ( bizarrely ) changing the video resolution. Problem is, when I switch video resolution to my native 1080 by 1920, it results in no picture with my tv saying it can't display the source ( it can ). It will work with 1080 x 720, sound wise, but then it runs in a small box on my tv ( not window ) instead of the full resolution. The original 800 x 600 stretches it out to fit, but again the sound is messed up that way. Any ideas?

There is no 1080 x 1920 resolution. I am assuming that was a typo, and should be 1920 x 1080. Make sure you haven't made the same mistake in-game.

Try doing the following (if you're on Win7):

1. Start - All programs - GOG.com - Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition - Settings.exe
When settings window opens, click on Change (lower right corner) - and choose Auto Detect option on Sound panel.

2. If it fails, Run the game as administrator, and when it starts from game menu, go to Options - Sound Options - Advanced Sound Options and try choosing one that works.

3. Also, there may be another really weird solution to the problem:
Start - All programs - GOG.com - Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition\Tools and run NWN Toolset as administrator. When it open chose Start normally (bottom side of the Welcome window).

Please post back if it helped.
Cheers.

Unfortunately not. The sound DOES work if I pick anything other then 800 x 600, but if I do I can't get full screen. And for some reason if I set it to 1920 x 1080, I don't get anything, my tv just says resolution not supported. The refresh rate on the tv IS 60, but it still won't work. Right now my two options are play full screen in low res 800 x 600 with messed up sound, or play in a small window with sound that works. grrr.
Fixed it. I had to go into my NVIDIA display properties, and set " Content reported to Display " as " Full screen video " .. Now she's good to go!
Glad you figured it out.
Have fun!

I used option 1 and it worked! Thanks!
