Hey all thanks for stopping by, I am trying to host a multiplayer game for myself and a friend,

I used the nwn server to host my game, I can see it both on my network and through direct connection.

My friend was unable to join the server via direct connection.

He pinged the server and did not get anything back.

seems like the problem might be on my end is there something I am missing?

I turned off windows firewall to prevent conflict, still unable to connect to my server.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you done port-forwarding? Or are you using Hamachi?

Are you trying to host behind an active firewall?

I honestly cant remember port forwarding at all, been so long.

I just figured disabling windows fire wall would solve that.

I just have a modem no router, no hardware based fire wall that I know of, if that's what you mean by active.

You do not require Hamachi, but it IS a solution - and a more straightforward one at that. I myself would rather port-forward, but many do not feel easy about doing so.
