[strike]Hello, would anyone here who knows or still remembers how to access the facial animation on pc or npc in Neverwinter Nights 2 toolset? By the GOG re-release version those "#nervous" "#scared" type facial expressions (at least eyebrow lifting) seem to be disabled - code comment saying they tend to break the face rig or something to that effect. I've played Harp & Chrysanthemum module and noticed that the creator was able to do quite a few facial expression on the Bevil-model NPC, but when I try with PlayCustomAnimation() on the n_bevil model it won't do the same thing. I've tried using the animation tab in the Conversation too, but didn't work either as I remember. I can't find the creator's email address; will try to leave a comment on his blog, hoping that he may provide some hints. :)

The "Animation Viewer" plugin shows the facial animations, so they are in the files somewhere, just not reachable at the moment... I've searched and searched but could not find any specifics on this issue. At the GameofThrones persistent world website they still list the emotion animation on their animation string page, so I'm still hopeful...

(Just thought I'd ask here since I have an account here, as opposed to creating new accounts at NWN vault and/or NexsusMod or even the BioWare forum)[/strike]

The simple idea to look inside the module itself escaped me earlier. It seems that the creator of H&C is using the "facial_" animation under the animation tab of the conversation. Maybe the toolset doesn't like it when I try to use both that method and the ga_play_custom_animation under Actions tab. /shrug Will have to experiment further...

Thanks.

Seems all there. It would be best to ask on the bioware forums as that's where most of the modding community resides afaik.

I personally haven't used it, but I'd go with what is said to work and see how to break it instead of the other way around.

Thank you for replying. Even though what I found didn't help 100%, but a small breakthrough in the self-learning process is always a good motivator to keep at it. :)
Animations can be wonky in NWN2. Long time ago, new animations were included in a patch. I remember days of trying to get walking wounded to work. It never worked. The animation itself would work, as long as npc was standing still, but once you have it moving around waypoints, it stopped working.

Another time, I had an npc doing a sitting animation, then scripted him to move to a waypoint. Somehow the engine didn't cancel the sitting animation, and the npc slid to the waypoint on his butt.
