The Character settings I posted are only the result of changing the in game settings.
You could try copying the settings in the attached pic

Having said that, I did just try editing the nwn2player.ini and the changes I made were reflected in game.

So firstly, you need to edit the nwn2player.ini that is in C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2
not the one in the NWN2 Complete root directory.

If you right click on your documents\Neverwinter Nights 2 folder and select Properties > security does it show your username as having full control?

And don't take offence with this one, but when you edited your ini, did you hit save.

Have you got the game installed in ...Program Files(x86)...

Thx for ur answer,

I was modifiying the right .ini in the documents/neverwinternights2 folder and i did saved it but the game didn t seem to consider it.

what i did is to reinstall the game, clean all my folders with mods and saves, and it worked!

thx again
I hate the NWN2 camera also. NWN1 camera was way better.
*BUMP*

I feel compelled to bump this excellent post that was last bumped three years and 37 pages back on the forum. It took a while to find good info without story/gameplay spoilers, but this is it. This is almost mandatory to take care of right away when starting NWN2. I bought the game in a bundle a couple years back and just could not stand the interface, so it never got played.

Recently, again trying to play this game for the first time, I realized my "new" pc (now 3+ yo) did not have a functioning middle mouse button. Pushing the wheel in does nothing.. The "X" key as stated in this thread is very touchy/fluky/bugged. A functional middle mouse button and wheel is important for this game. So now I bought some kind of gaming/ninja mouse to play an old game. And it was totally worth it.

I used the "camera modes demystified" settings for the Exploration and Strategy. For Character Mode I am using olnorton's settings. All is much improved, and many thanks to all.

There is a lot of built in confusion. Besides the default movement keys differing between modes, and what I can only term the constanza swirl at the end of each sprint, I count four places in the game that have the cameras grouped. Two of the places are ordered as E S C - toolbar and game option tabs. Two others are ordered E C S. - the keymapping tables and the * cycle through. In a way I think three camera modes is two too many...but at the same time all I really want is a simple first person mode, like character mode zoomed in but without the character's model blocking the view. And, of course, without the swirl.

TwoBits: Any ideas on how to tame the vantage-point beast? (Running Windows Vista laptop, for what it's worth)

Gaunathor: Maybe this will help:
Camera Modes Demystified

Edit: Updated the link.
This was the solution to my camera "issues." I followed along and made sure my screen's options matched the screen-shot options, and was able to enjoy playing for the next few hours.

Thank you!
