They used to, but now every requests authenticates regardless of whether your CDkey was used to purchase it.

I just don't understand this demo mode you keep mentioning.
Unplug your computer from the internet and run Wyvern Crown of Cormyr and see for yourself.

Notice where it says "play demo", if you click on this it will let you play a small portion of the module, as a demo.

Hmph. Well, that's pretty cool then. I appreciate you sharing this with the community. I might play some of the modules then. I heard that PotSC was the best... Also Darkness Over Daggerford.

You are welcome.
Keep in mind that the only way to play those games in demo mode is to disconnect your internet connection or block it in firewall.
As of right now it will automatically authenticate even if you never bought them and instead run in full game mode
