I was able to fix that problem by going into the Options panel in-game and changing the sound source to one of the DirectSound drivers. Ultimately, I think the root cause is the game's using some really old audio codecs that don't run so well under modern hardware.

(edit: or if DirectSound doesn't work, just work your way through each of the audio drivers. I remember flipping through them one at a time and eventually one of them worked.)

Try switching it to Miles 2D Positional audio driver. Solved that problem for me as well as choppy performance. NWN seems to be rather finicky with its audio options on newer machines.

BTW: very nice rig. ;)

You can also try running sound in "Safe Mode".

Run the launcher and select "Configuration", afterwards click the [Change] button. Click the drop down menu under "Sound" and select "Safe Mode" then click the [Ok] button then [Accept] button.

Alternatively, you can open the configuration by running "nwnconfig.exe" in your game's folder.
