the load screen is spuratic when it begin's to load screens go everywhere. The videos don't play, The every now and then crashes. It's been a problem for a very long time. I mean like a year. So if i could get some help on the subject of how to get these older game's that run basically on XP or watever to run. That would help cause alot of the problem is that nothing seems to want to run with windows 7 and its driving me crazy. Thanks.
1: Reboot your computer. Seriously!
2: Don't install games to 'Program Files'.
3: Make sure you have proper permissions, and run the game as administrator if possible.
4: Make sure your antivirus is not interfering -- disable it temporarily while playing.
5: Run older games in compatibility mode, and disable visual themes and desktop composition.
6: Make sure that your sound and graphics drivers are up to date.
7: Close ALL non essential programs before playing games. You don't need them, and they may interfere.

Not sure how much of Hickory's advice is duplicated, but you might try checking This Thread on the BSN as well. Maybe there are some other pointers that will help.
Direct X can cause problems too. NWN won't run on DX10. I got it running on my Win 8 machine by installing DX9 on top of the native DX10 install.
Game won't install on my C:Drive directly.

1. Install game using a custom install. When you are given the path to the install folder, change the path using the browse folder button so that it is NOT installed in 'programs (x86)', but directly on C drive. Do not make any shortcuts during the install process.

You can't install it direct to the base C: drive. You have to navigate to a folder. In Windows Explorer, make a new folder called 'Games' or 'GOG Games', then point the installer to that.

Edit: I should have been clearer. Make the new folder on your C: drive, so then you have C:\Games or C:\GOG Games.

I can't remember where I found this tip, but renaming the .exe was one of the steps that helped me get the game running. (e.g., nwnmain.exe > nwnmain-derp.exe)

It even runs on DX 11 (compatibility mode). Only (small) problem is that the sound tends to stop every now and then for a moment in the starting videos.
