Hi all!



I want to play in lan with my brother via hamachi.
I bought the game in Gog, installed it and put my cd keys in the nwncdkey.ini, but i want to know what i need to play it in lan or direct connection with my brother in another city before my brother buys it too, want to be sure that i will be able to play easily and wont be a waste of money to him.

Uh, I haven't tested the NWN server from Gog retail (yet), but if is like the one from the CD/DVD years ago, you don't need hamachi, BUT you need to request to Gog team the CD-keys for the games as the one by default are not valid.

Yet, the one who will host the server need to open certain ports (maybe Hamachi will do this more invisible to the user but is still required)

If you're only playing with your brother (just the two of you) then you technically don't need new CD-keys, that only applies for online persistent worlds with security systems.

Are you using Hamachi because you're not able to host normally? Shouldn't need anything special but never tried to use Hamachi before.

Yep, for local game in the same subnetwork, the cd-keys are not required, but he stated that both of them are in different cities, so, the same rules for PW applies to them (The game check the Cd-keys before letting online games).

P.d. I was to comment than the question title was a little confuses as you are speaking over a online session instead of a LAN (but, those are technical terms and not very relevant)

No, it doesn't, that service went down a long time ago. That's why I mentioned PW security systems specifically, because those are the only reason you need a CD-Key atm.
