In Hordes of the Underdark, when I kill the drow rummaging through my chest, if I remember correctly, the door is supposed to open and the innkeeper's daughter is supposed to rush in and talk to me. Instead, nothing happens. The door is locked. The chest is still there and it's locked.

Oh wait, is the drow supposed to do something to the chest?

Ok, I've reloaded and sat next to the drow for a good 5 minutes and she didn't do anything. I tried using an ability that should have alerted her to my presence, but she just sat and fiddled with the lock. I tried resting and she stood up but still didn't DO anything...

*edit* I wound up opening it in the toolset and reading all the triggers. Apparently somehow starting with a new character messes things up. So I saved my character, started a new game with that character and everything so far is working fine.

Definitely a bug. Sounds like there's a script that's not firing. The Drow is supposed to steal the chest, leaving you with only a couple items and a teleport stone. Do you have any mods installed in the game at all?

I don't have any mods. I still don't know exactly what was wrong, but somehow saving the character and starting a new game with the now-level-15 character fixed it. So the script that wasn't firing was tied into the leveling up process somehow.

Ah, okay. Glad you got it working. :)

I recommend using a character-builder module rather than using the auto-levelup (both in this and any other custom campaign you might jump into). In the case of HotU, it strips you of your equipment anyways but in many other cases it can be very useful to get some level-appropriate gear suitable to your character and have them saved and ready to go for any adventure.

I'd also recommend starting with 100k gold in HotU. The adventure strips your equipment, but not your gold, so a character imported from an earlier adventure will have quite a bit of money to spend at the start of this one. It goes so far as to outright encourage you to partake on a shopping spree before entering undermountain, so it's nice to have an appreciable amount to spend rather than the pocket change you'll otherwise be working with. You'll be able to get by fine if you're playing a Wizard, Sorcerer, Druid, or Cleric, but with any other class the campaign will get off to a much smoother start if you can properly outfit yourself.
