This isn't a big issue obviously since NWN works 100% fine when launched from the desktop... but for some reason my NWN crashes as it tries to open if I attempt to run it by clicking the play button in GOG's Galaxy program.

My version of Galaxy still says beta though... so maybe that's why? Is everyone else's Galaxy still in beta? Not sure if I will need to upgrade to the final version myself or if GoG will do it automatically for you.

Nevertheless, I'd like to see this problem solved.

Galaxy has been in beta since it "launched" about a year and a half ago. Considering the GOG site itself was considered to be in beta for the first two years of its existence, and how many features Galaxy still lacks, I wouldn't expect the client to be considered "finished" for a long time.
Having the same issue. I can launch the game from the folder (by the shortcut 'Launch Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition' and by 'nwnmain.exe' itself) just fine. If i click play from Galaxy I get a crash on startup saying it stopped working. Tried changing compatibility settings to XP SP 2/3, Vista, and a complete reinstall of NWN and GoG Galaxy.

This has been like that for many people, including me. Sometimes, if you let the videos play until you see the menu, the game works.
Exact same issue here too. Win7 64bit.
I'd recommend sending these bugs to support.

For me, it works fine.
