In the original game, you can't (at least, not without mods). In the expansions, if memory serves, right-click on the character and navigate the options and look for something like 'Inventory' or use the talk to feature to ask to adjust their equipment. It's been a while, so this may not be exactly correct, but it should steer you in the right direction.

I think there's a mod for improved textures, but I can't recall for certain. I'd suggest searching the Neverwinter Vault. If there's a mod for it, you'll find it there.
@Coelocanth, thanks for your reply. but there's no such option when i right-click my companion!
guess i it can't be done.

I'm sure there's a way. Let me fire up a game and see if I can figure it out.

*edit* Okay, there are two ways to do it:

Method 1

Click on the companion to talk to them. Choose option 3 I want to change your tactics (or something similar). Then Choose option 1 I want to adjust your equipment. Their inventory will open and you can open your own and drag and drop items to and from each.

Method 2

Right-click on the companion to bring up the radial menu. Choose the northwest option, called More Options. Then choose the east option Inventory. The inventory will open, just like in the above method and you can go form there.

My pleasure. And don't kick yourself. The process isn't exactly intuitive.
