I've never played Neverwinter Nights, but I've heard a great deal about it. One of the things I've heard often is that the game is more of an editor than an actual game - that the campaign and expansion campaigns are simply there to introduce you to the world and it's possibilities, but that the real NWN experience is to be found in making your own adventures and trying other people's. So my questions are as follows:

Is the editor included in the GOG version (would be surprised if it wasn't)?

How easy is it to make something decent with the editor? Consider this from the standpoint of someone who can make reasonably good maps with the StarCraft II editor.

Is the multiplayer/editor/mapmaking community for Neverwinter Nights still alive in any way? Is there perhaps a GOG community for it?

The editor is called the Aurora Toolset and it should be located in the NWN folder (where nwmain.exe is).
You can make simple maps in the editor easily, but making a complete module requires some scripting abilities; if you have any experience writing C++ or something similar, this will not be very hard to do.

One way to learn is downloading modules from nwvault.ign.com and opening them in the toolset to take a look at what's inside.
yeah the toolset is there and working, just used it myself.

Its not the easiest thing to get to grips with but you can make some impressive stuff once you get used to it. I made some really nice maps that I never ended up using because I was too lazy to learn the scripting

@Alcghkosac

As a very old user of this games, did you try to play with the execution option ? Like Execute it as an admin, or with compatibility mode ?

That's sound strange, I know, but some people were used to to it that way. ( Loooooong time ago.. )
