It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

My graphics driver is dated November 9th 2011, and I ran the update software for a 3rd time today to make sure, as well as manually going through the manufactures website to make sure.
Just submitted a trouble ticket to GOG, as well as posting on the NWN website.

Been so long since I've done any real computer work, I'd forgotten about the event viewer. Anyone want to translate this for me? I never got this far into admin stuff.

superfly2000: I've heard ATI cards are even harder to get to work....and you should really check again just to make sure you have the latest drivers....and you must be sure what card you really have first naturally....
That's cause ATI sucks. Looking at the hundreds of posts related to this issue, you'll find that the majority of them reference ATI cards. Its not so much the hardware that sucks as it is the drivers. Good luck finding a set that works - it seems to depend upon the card. Some people use 11-1, others 11-2, and still more 11-5.

*guilty* HSI IceQ. When I was looking to get a graphics card, I had to get something low powered and cool, as I only trust my Dell power supply so far.

The guys at the bioware forum are digging through the event log that I posted. They've suggested a few more things to try.

I downloaded NWN several days ago and had the same problem. Try right clicking on the desktop shortcut and select Run as Administrator.

You may also have to change your permissions to grant Administrative access to the program. You can do this by right-clicking on the shortcut and selecting properties. Vista is a pain with the permissions thing. Upgrading to 7 would be an improvement.

The only other option is Direct X and it sounds like you got the most recent update from 2010.
I was having the same problem after dloading this game but I have an NVidia card on a laptop running win 7. However, once I changed the properties to "run as administrator" so far it runs clean.
I had that problem at the beginning, solved by turning down just a little bit the graphics options. Game was still crashing randomly (or not-so-randomly - there was probably a pattern I missed), which I seem to have solved by turning the settings down further. To my eyes, the game looks the same as before so it's not like disabling the eye candy made it ugly.

Edit: I'm running Win7 with an nVidia 555M GT
