If anyone here ever played Everquest, you're probably familiar with the Shadowknight class, which is basically a Warrior/Necromancer combo. I'd like to make a similar character in NWN. I'm thinking a Fighter/Blackguard or fighter/wizard(necro specialty).

Anyone have suggestions as to which of those would be better for my purposes, and suggestions as to what levels, skills and spells I should take? Keep in mind that a Shadowknight is a warrior with Necromancer powers, not vice versa...should be a better tank than caster.

Keep in mind that I'm not very concerned with making a super powerful character, so long as it isn't completely gimped or anything. So long as I can make it through the main campaign without too much trouble that should be fine.

Thanks!
You might like to try an Undead Lord or an Infernal Warrior.

There's plenty more suggestions on BioWare's own Epic Character Builds page.

Admittedly these are "Epic" builds that can sometimes require many levels, so they may not be viable if you're planning to jaunt through the original campaign. They might provide a bit of inspiration though!

Excellent! Undead Lord looks like it's right up my alley, although I'll probably use it more as a guide than following it to the T. I think my Shadowknight should be a bit sturdier that the UL.
Whatever you do, be aware that if you only intend to make it for the OC you won't really get past lvls 15-20 so if you're looking for a char to continue through to SOU and HOTU(especially HOTU, it's imo the best campaign of the three) then go to town, otherwise you might want to be careful with more than 2 lvls before 15:)

Cheers.

Speaking of which, do you know where I could find a Death Knight-ish build for Neverwinter Nights 2?

Can you please explain that a little more? What is "go to town" and "be careful with more than 2 lvls before 15" means?
'Go to town' is an expression, it means 'go ahead, do whatever you want'.

I'll let Ragnar clarify his second point himself so I don't mess it up.

:)
My mistake, I meant more than two CLASSES rather than levels.
multi classes receives penalties you might want to checkout some of the tried out builds
PM30 is a fun chracter to play, especially the lvl30 summon, but not much of a melee hitter. Granted you are hard to hit and hurt, but you have little offense.

I'd suggest Mestil's Pale Emissary: Wizard 26 / Palemaster 10 / Fighter 4 by grizzled_dwarflord if you want PM immunities.

NWN Character Build Search is a great way to research possible builds.

Have fun :)

I totally forgot about this, thanks!
