I award levels for community outreach? Um, SO?

For those who request it, and send us a link to their post - up to ONE level per month. This rewards our PLAYERS for community outreach, and sometimes help those who might otherwise be too timid to post to step up and give their own perspective on why ours is the server they play NWN on. It is a modest reward, and it helps give perspectives on the server that the Admin/BUILDER may not be privvy to - frankly I like to see others perspectives when I can elicit them.

Still this is a public board - and I am on topic, and fresh threads get read, and my posts are always to update information on the server which changes frequently (we do module updates about twice a week here, so noteworthy changes are made at least a couple times a month).

It is my feeling that isolation and rabid 'snorkel whacking' (such as the previous poster engages in) will be the death of NWN. So I encourage interaction in the NWN community especially in a friendly, supportive, informative ways.

Our server has again expanded locomotion for NWN PCs - we are presently rolling out "squeeze-thru" transition options where size does matter, and if your PC is too big for the pinch-out, it will not pass. This has long been a special feature here for our TINY creatures' use vs GRATES and PORTCULLIS, now we are rolling this out as a useful feature for all size creatures and in many environs in unquely fitting ways.

Now PCs can WALK, RUN, FLY, SWIM, CLIMB, JUMP, and SQUEEZE-THRU as movement options. C'mon, jump in, the water's fine.

I'm wondering if you could re-post this paragraph in English, not code. After all, your topic states "an ENGLISH language..." I've read it five times, and still can't make it out.

Locomotion : form of movement. Standard NWN supports only WALK and RUN.

Over the years we have expanded modes of movement available for PCs. One of the new modes of movement we tested first with creatures (including PCs) whose size is TINY (both a NWN and a D&D designation, essentially meaning about the size of a house cat). Initially our system allowed TINY creatures to initiate a special action when near grates and portcullis - that being to 'squeeze-thru' the grate or portcullis without opening it first... e.g. squeeze between the bars in this case.

We have that system totally debugged and running smoothly, and so we expanded the system to include more than just grates and portcullis, it now allows your PC to squeeze thru places where you might find (just examples) rubble-filled-tunnel-collapse, mines dead end tiles, sewer pipes, etc.. If your PC is too large (each pinch-out location can define size cap) the PC will not transition, otherwise, successful use transports your PC "to the other side".

Hope that helps (pardon me if I was brief on the first go - to me, this is exciting stuff, I'm such a nerd).

Part of the joy of this system is that OOC action such as TAB key use, will not reveal these lovely locations, only IC interaction with the terrain will reveal them!

In total, this server now supports several forms of PC movement including

WALK
RUN
SWIM
CLIMB
JUMP
FLY
SQUEEZE-THRU
TELEPORTATION (as by spell or item)

Thank YOU for asking. Sometimes I get a bit nerdy-excited about this stuff and the text I concoct to describe it is a little too "assuming you know what I know" which is NOT the goal at all, but rather to communicate how and what we have done here. Re-reading that earlier brief text, yeah, I needed to expand that totally. THANK YOU FOR ASKING else others would be left wondering too I have no doubt of that. :D
