Hey guys...running Neverwinter Nights on Windows 10, for now I have in 2-3 days total played the game (even as its an old game it can be addictive) ALL my progress is lost enterliy and only remaining is the first save from the start of the game....twice now. TWICE.
Please help cause I have no idea what to do. I quick tried to run as admin, but my didnt work...or should I have run as admin in the first place?
I usually launch from my desktop window and not GOG launcher, could that help or shoud I do something really elaborate having the pc (laptop to be some windows 7 or 8 what the hell the previus was)

Also..I am not a tech wizard. I am just a gamer that likes it when a games actually works with no other issues.

The word "usually" implies that you sometimes start the game from Galaxy. Also, the desktop shortcut could be linking to Galaxy. The cloud save feature in Galaxy is known to cause disappearing saves in NWN.
If that is what has happened to you, you might be able to recover your saves by following the instructions here.
In the long term, the only way to avoid the problem is to either disable cloud saving for NWN or just not use Galaxy.

Hey thanks for the quick reply....and I was a bit to fast uninstalling and all saves too before you replied...again I am not a techh savy person even I want to learn. I will download the game once more and start over...as ranger or druid...can't decide, but had fun with both adding points into open locks and traps. Just becausw why not.
As well as executing the game in Admin mode, try running in emulation (an old version of the OS), like Windows XP release 2.

I don't think NWN 1 was ever on the Steam Cloud platform.

IMO the problem is that NWN is not actually coded to work with Galaxy.

Instead, Galaxy just tries to sync up saves out of the directory with those in the cloud, without interacting with the actual game at all.

That is a big mistake IMO. If cloud save support is NOT actually in the game, then trying to hack it on externally is a recipe for exactly the kind problems we have been seeing here.

I have played NWN since launch in 2003, on multiple computers/GPUs and OS's (as old as Windows 98). I have uncounted hours, but definitely over 1000 hours of playtime.

The game has never once lost a save on me, and I really never heard of save issues until GoG Galaxy.

IMO, GOG should remove support NWN cloud saving from Galaxy to end this grief.

I got your point, you didn't get mine. NWN is OLD, it is NOT coded to support Steam, nor GoG cloud saves. That is why it won't work right.

You implied Steam cloud saving was better.

Newer games actually coded to support Steam, or GoG cloud saves are probably both fine as well.

It's just a special case of an old game without support externally hacked, that shouldn't have been done where it falls down. Steam never had this version of the game, so it doesn't have this particular problem.

Yeah, I just ran into this problem recently. I got a new Win 10 laptop and started using Gog Galaxy for the first time - previously I just used the downloader. Never had any problems with saves on Gog or from the NWN discs before this. Plus, the most recent save I could recover sill lost me 3 hours of game time. Oh well, live and learn. No more cloud saves.
