Thought I'd gift this but would like to make sure it will run without issue in Windows 7.
Your help is appreciated. Thanks!

According to this thread
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/gog_com_games_working_on_windows_7_64bit_o/_/1
its meant to work without problems.
I have personally tested the game and it works perfectly. Though, as with other GOG games, the Games Explorer shortcuts are messed up a little.
Interesting that this was marked as 'solved'... but needful necro regardless.

Specs:
Windows 7 64bit
Lenovo T410 - i5, 8GB RAM, Intel HD with latest driver revision, (8.15.10.2342), DX11

The game launches but hangs at the intro screen, (two twerps watching a movie).

Compat settings have no effect, (disabled compositing, visual themes and set to run as admin/XP SP2&3).

The installer is flooding the event log with PCA2 events which appear to indicate compatibility issues - running the installer in compat mode, however, had no effect.

Forcing 16bit colour had no effect.

Any other ideas?
Same here.
Got an Acer Aspire 5742G
Mounted an nVidiaGT540M optimus technology, set the nvidia panel to use the nvidia video card instead the intel integrated one but still stuck on the intro screen.

Need serious help.
up?

I've found that if you disable any additional monitor(s) so you're left with one, then set the remaining monitor to a low resolution (say 1027x768) and 16 bit color, the game will run.

Hardly a solution, though. That's a royal PITA to do just to play a game for a while.

It also doesn't seem to like 16:9 resolutions, so you should expect it to look fairly distorted on a wide-screen.
By trials and errors I have found a solution that works.
Using an editor open the file "gameoptions.xml" in folder "c:\Users\<your_user_name>\Documents\JoWooD\Neighbours From Hell 1".

In line 5 change:
backbuffer="0"
to:
backbuffer="1"

Save file and start game.
Same method works also for Neighbours From Hell 2.
^ That file can also be used to make the game in windowed mode, for those that prefer to play it that way.

This is what solved it for me. The back-buffer didn't help, but windowed mode (fullscreen="false") worked like a charm.

Thanks to you both!

Edit: Oh, by the way: Windows 7 dual-screens. One 16:9, one old-school. Didn't have to turn off second screen in Windowed mode.

There is also a line there to set the bit at 32, but dunno if that helps with anything.
