I have an old a** system. Radeon VE / 7000 32MB AGP Card, Intel P4 1.5ghz Processor, 1GB of RAM... Back in the day when I had an IBM Aptiva 2154 that had a ATI Rage 3D 8mb chip this game ran like a champ. Any idea why it starts but then goes back to a black screen then quits to the desktop?

Try running with custom startup settings in the gog launcher and set it to just "-D3D".

Also on my 2 machines the first game run after the windows boot always displays just a black screen & I need to kill it, but the second and so on work fine.

I have the same issue. Running with custom (manual) startup settings and setting it to just "-D3D" DID NOT solve my issue! Neither does re-installing Direct X. GOG Tech Support is stumped!

Won't run on my PC, Windows 10. It goes to black screen, changes resolution then goes back to Windows.

I had the exact same issue, and finally got it to run with those command line arguments:

-D3D -KeepAvailableVram-800000000
Doesn't work for me....
The game isn't working anymore on Windows 10 x64 .
Hi, i bought this game today on sale, and found out later that it was not compatible with Windows 10 out-of-the-box.
After some tests, i just got it game working on Windows 10 x64 build 1703.

First of all, you have to install DirectPlay, from "Control Panel" - "Programs and Features" - "Turn Windows features on or off" - "Legacy Components".

Then, go to game install dir, edit motoracer2.ini and modify from:
Params=-KeepAvailableVram800000000
to:
Params=-KeepAvailableVram3800000000 -SkipIntro

Notice the newly added 3 before the 8, this is mandatory.
The -SkipIntro switch is not necessary, but the game will start faster.

After that, just start the game with the desktop shortcut, check the "DirectX 3D" box, choose any language and go!
None of these solved the issue for me. Still not launching on Windows 10 x64

If you get error 0xc0000022, DirectPlay is not properly installed.
If the game starts and immediately quits to desktop, you have to play a bit with the KeepAvailableVram parameter.
Find your correct Vram value in bytes using a converter like this http://www.convertunits.com/from/GB/to/byte
I'm now using a Vram value of 8000000000 (about 7,45gb) and the game works in my pc with a GTX 1060 6GB and in my laptop with Intel HD 5500!
